Why did you make me watch the useless video? No Australian magpie to be seen. The 'maggies' you have are not the same as our lot. If you watched my video more closely, you would have seen that as he moved along the road, he was attacked by the (transitional) local territorial bird. All well and good when you are prepared and cameras set. But....

Here in the States we have animals whose appearance differs depending on regional habitat. A cotton mouth here in Tx looks way different than the cotton mouths in the eastern US. I didn't know if these birds were magpies that didn't have the white markings. We don't have magpies here so I don't know what they all look like. I thought the guy was being chased by one bird lol. Only just got home from work, it's 6am-ish, the wife is asleep so I had the sound turned down on the laptop, I could hear him laughing but not make out what he was saying.

    Sounded like Crocodile Dundee though.

When they say "cyclist", do they mean bicycle?

But remember, they need their guns for protection, not to satisfy a killing lust! (sarcasm just in case not understood) I did not watch the video but just read the comments which confirmed my view

Nowhere did I say that I would shoot someone in the back over stuff, even though the law allows it in certain cases.

Here is a scenario where I would shoot a fleeing man in the back. My wife and I are walking in a public place. I step inside a building to use the restroom. A man tackles my wife and knocks her unconscious and steals her jewelry and purse. I step outside as he is getting up and running with my wife’s purse. He has $3000 worth of jewelry, my credit cards, cash, an identity theft kit, my home address, car keys, and my wife’s gun. I don’t know if my wife is alive or dead. I would empty my gun on him and I suspect you would also.

I would try and help my wife before worrying about material things

It takes 3 seconds to drop the guy and who is to say that he won’t turn around and rob me while I help her. He now has a gun, whether he knows it or not at this point. With my address and 4 sets of car keys, he would threaten my family again. No thanks.

    Well, mine is. I value a dog's life more than a burglar's.

When I was in High school, some kid punched another in the temple and killed him, got 12 years for manslaughter.

And if people value their life, they leave people and their property, the hell alone.

    Really!
This from the link provided.. I may be missing were it says he, the fallen was struck multiple times? I guess you can interpret the bashing "The addition supplied by the author of the article" if you like, but that wasn't what the witnesses described.. One witness says he heard a loud POP "Singular" ¯\_(º¸º)_/¯

Did you not read the thread or something? Have you not kept up with the story? Not my problem.
Only if they're still committing a felony against you others or property you have the expectation to defend (yours or others with permission or relation) and its after dark.
    Otherwise that's murder.

As long as the property is felony level and it's at night, that's legal.

I'm not sorry, but we do indeed value property over 500 dollars over the life/health of a thief/burglar. If you dont like that, stay where you're at and dont visit.

That does not allow pursuit that allows use of force to prevent escape with the property.

You dont get to chase them off your property and continue while in "hot pursuit". That's cops only.

I mean they used to lynch horse thieves they caught without a trial so.... yeah I dont think any of them would be bothered by shooting an escaping thief who refuses to drop the loot

I hate to tell you this but defense of property is valid as a use of force.
