    Doesn't surprise me a bit.
Cultural Marxism. What Besmenov talked about. They subvert a country by destroying its cultural roots. Same game whether it's Cuba, Vietnam, Nicaragua, US. As he said, if they get complete control, they will give you nothing for your wonderful ideas of equality. You will be lined up and shot, or put in prison.

Would you be happy as a clam if the politically correct phrase for cultural-Marxism was used instead ? The PC phrase for cultural-Marxism is political correctness.

Ultra-liberal 'political correctness' has no limits. I had previously predicted that the Jefferson Memorial would be the next 'target' of secular liberals. Yes, I believe that it will be destroyed within the next 50 years (along with the Lincoln Memorial) and replaced with an 'atheist' icon or something similar. Sounds 'radical'? Too bad (or perhaps best) that most of us won't be alive when the total destruction of America takes place. We're well along that path now thanks to atheists and ultra-liberal doctrine.

Looks like I was onto something when I created this thread just a few weeks ago:

Will the Left-Wing Someday Re-Brand America as Another Country?

Jefferson is one of the most important figures in American history. That some on the left wish for him not to be memorialized just goes to show how much they despise the country and its history, and only see it as something that they want to recreate in their own image.

The Confederate flag has NOTHING to do with American history. It was the flag of the Confederacy which went to war with the US and lost and no longer exists. The only people the think that flag should still be flying secretly long for the days of slavery. 600,000 people died because some (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)s couldn't be bothered to pay their workers.

There is no left-wing conspiracy to undermine "western culture" and establish an Islamo-communist-fascist-nazi-reptilian-hispanic-homosexual-atheist-martian-black-hippie totalitarian commune. I have seen more reasonable arguments from holocaust deniers.

U.S. Flag Waves Over 10 Army Bases Proudly Named for Confederate Officers
    http://time.com/3932914/army-bases-confederate/

Obama social engineering of our military.
To change the customs, traditions, culture of the U.S. military in the name of diversity and political correctness. One of the first things Obama did after lowering the standers of the military was to go after the Confederate flag on military bases and even tattoo's. -> http://www.wnd.com/2010/05/155377/

The only way that liberals can survive is to pander to their downtrodden constituency (they've never really done anything for them other than to throw them a few bones...look at our inner-city, Dem. ghettos). The 'Dem' theme is to continuously make America feel guilty about events that happened in the 18th...19th century and to perpetuate this forever. Yes, this includes a liberal Dem campaign to disgrace our Founding Fathers. ...the very foundation of our country.

To the liberal Dems: Have you no conscience? No sense of wanting to maintain national dignity or respect for differences in 'social values' from one century to another? Why do you try to impose 20th century values to 17th, 18th century values?

It is the culture of The South. It represents smaller Federal Government, more states' rights. Government closer to the people.
Jefferson is part of our nation's culture and founding.
The Marxists wish to destroy our cultural identity and replace it with communism.

It represents a bunch of traitors that wanted to keep slavery around so bad that they went to war over it and as a result 600,000 people died. They were traitors and their flag represents a failed attempt at secession. It has no more place on a government building than a Nazi flag or an Imperial Japanese flag.

This has nothing to do with Marxism. It does seem to fall under Political correctness (as so much stupidity does), but the reality is that the people spouting such nonsense are supposed to be educated.

This is such painful stupidity. Jefferson happened to live at a time when slavery was legal and an accepted practice.

That he happened to live during such a time, and participated in it, has zero to do with the fact that it was his "ideas" that founded this nation and eventually led to the repeal of slavery.

This is such brainless, mindless and uneducated banter by this CNN anchor Ashleigh Banfield that she should be fired simply on the basis of spreading ignorance. (The opposite of what a News outlet is supposed to be doing).

She would be much better suited to working for the Pro-Life where the job is to spread ignorance.

It is on the wrong side of the river anyway. They should knock down the Washington monument, move the Memorial to the center of the mall, and replace Jefferson with whoever wins the highest bid at the auction. I am guessing it would be a Koch or a Soros.

PC is basically common courtesy. Typical of a conservative to base his whole politics on being against that

There are lots of people who like the flag who do not "secretly long for the days of slavery". I would agree that it has no place in government buildings but this kind of reaction to the Charleston shootings has crossed the line into hysteria. It IS part of American History.

Nutjobs are nutjobs. Racists are racists. Sometimes these circles overlap and you get a Dylann Roof. The Confederate Flag did not cause him to become what he is.

For God's sake, his parents made his middle name "Storm". I think they should be jailed for that alone.

Yea - sure, lets tear down one of the most historic and beautiful memorial buildings in Washington, D.C., dedicated to Thomas Jefferson. Merely a man who authored the Declaration of Independence, writing that "all men were created equal" and lending legitimacy to the later Civil Right's movement. Along with Andrew Jackson - one of the founder's of today's out-of-touch with America, politically correct Democratic Party; ambassador for Colonial America to France during the Revolutionary War, and responsible for convincing the French to lend their army and navy to the fight that defeated England and brought America independence. Lets not forget eight years serving as our third President of the United States; writing the articles for the State of Virginia government, and founding the Ivy-league level University of Virginia. At a glittering gala dinner for poets; musicians; artists; academics; held in the White House during the Kennedy Administration, JFK's comment that night was - "this is the finest gathering of talent and artists in this house since Thomas Jefferson dined alone." Yea, this is one guy who needs to be marginalized in American history, and his monument in Washington destroyed. Based on what this administration is doing - the liberal idiots in the media and the extremists in the Black community, I am beginning to think America is becoming Iran..........

Gawd - this again. The Confederate flag is simply a Southern historic symbol, representing and honoring those who fought and died, no matter how misguided, under its banner from 1861-1865. 99% of them didn't own a slave, and joined the Confederate Army when the Federal troops were mobilized and invaded their homes. After the Civil War, the flag essentially went out of use, mainly because it happens to be the sole property of the United States Government, duly surrendered at Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia in April 1865, ending the existence of the illegal and short lived idea of the Confederate States of America. The political leaders of the CSA had abandoned their capital, Richmond, Virginia, President Jefferson Davis; Vice President Stevens, and others, and were "on-the-run" for their lives when Lee surrendered his Army of Northern Virginia to General Grant, and General Johnston followed shortly thereafter by surrendering his Army of the Tennessee. President Lincoln personally visited a burned out Richmond, Virginia at this time, where he relaxed comfortably in Jefferson Davis' office chair. After the war, Southern landowners, deprived of their land and political power due to the radical reconstruction laws, engineered the sharecropping system, which essentially kept the freed Black slaves in a constant state of serfdom, not much better than when they were slaves. The big landowners, politicians and militia (police of the time), organized themselves into a vigilante force, and under disguise, terrorized southern Blacks for years by burning out their homes; kidnapping them; lynching them; and despite Constitutional Amendments 14 and 15 to the U.S. Constitution, denying them their right to the franchise, well into the 1960's. All the time using the Confederate Flag as their symbol. From a symbol of honor and reminder of the courage of the South's dead soldiers, to a hated symbol of segregation and murder, that flag (which is actually the Confederate Naval ensign, not the Confederate Stars & Bars flag), it became a hated symbol for many in the American Black community. South Carolina didn't fly the flag over its State Capital building until 1961, not as a Southern identity symbol, but to protest Federal interference and insistence on integration across the Southern states. Perfectly acceptable that it should be taken down, and never fly above any official government building anywhere in America, it angers too many American's. Jeb Bush, as Governor of Florida, removed it from the State Capital building in Tallahassee without fanfare and with no repercussions to his job approval rating. Major retailers are now refusing to stock Confederate regalia merchandise, however, you can buy one almost anyplace south of the Mason-Dixon line, and if you want to fly it personally, on your property - that is fine - and your right as an American. If it is flying over government Federal or State government buildings - or memorials on state property, as is the case in Columbia, the flag that the Governor asked to be removed doesn't fly over the Capital Building, but over a Confederate Memorial structure on capital grounds, than it should come down. I applaud her doing so, even if there is a backlash against her. Maintaining racial harmony is a small price to pay for removal of that flag, after the executions of nine innocent Black American's worshiping peacefully in their church in Charleston, S.C. But I hope the CNN and PC crowd doesn't get carried away with this - marginalizing Thomas Jefferson? There isn't an American living today who can match his accomplishments, intellect and ideas that helped form this country...........
