So you are trying to tell me that making Sushi doesn't damage marine life because it's ocean supplied? Just askin'

You said it was stupid and glad it’s supported. If there is anything that could ever be defined as partisan, being a shill, hypocritical, or the epitome of a post with double standards, you nailed it. ****, you pounded it into the ground to the point where China thinks they’re having an earthquake. Probably shouldn’t drink and post, that’s what got Clinton in trouble.

    You're picking a fight. beatinoff_zps3b07b48c (1).gif

I think not building the desalinization plant is asinine and idiotic. I think not curtailing agricultural water use is just as asinine and idiotic. Tom Selleck can choke on his avocados. We can import almonds and pistachios.

Sushi has precisely dick to do with potable water.

I’m glad the governor supported it. Wish they had got it done. No idea what your post is trying to say.

California is the reason that I have to have a proposition 65 warning on a bag of freaking wood chips for my smoker here in Florida.

A excellent example of policy on the basis of the political bandwagon .. anti science .. anti logic. and you hit the nail on the head .. with all of our skills -- we can't manage to take water out of the Ocean without damaging the fish ? .. and nobody brought this idea up to council .. or rather .. when it did get brought up ... got ignored as that would conflict with political bandwagon.

Reminds me of when one of the founders left Greenpeace .. same issue .. Political Bandwagon took over..

Same fellow .. Patrick Moore -- went pro nuclear power some 30 years ago .. said it was the only way the transition possible. - hit the nail on the head.. but the political bandwagon trampled on that idea.

Now its pretty much too late --- already we are seeing power issues .. and almost no one has an EV .. they are "Hoping" that 4% of new cars sold next year will be EV .. just wait until we need more power .. where is it going to come from .. heard something the other day that the Grid will not be ready to accept renewable power for another 10 years .. LOL .OK a little late to the party .. but then we have to figure out how to get wind - Solar up and running .. as now it is unrealistic to thing this can produce enough power.

but hold on .. in 10 years we are supposed to be 100% electric already .. or at least half way there .. where is the power coming from ?
Start planning for a nuclear power plant today .. and 10 years from now you will have some power.

So where is it comming from ? this extra power .. some places already having trouble with current load. .. better get those Gas and/or Coal generators fired up in a hurry .. :)

Biden-Blue-Left Enviro policy is "Not in my back Yard - Dump it in the Ocean" which is what happens when instead of producing the oil that we use domestically .. we outsource to Namibia.

As I already stated, you need to look them up. "bars" and "sudden water intake" is nothing to do with the impact of desalination plants on the environment

Why should I? It’s your argument. I live in Tampa Bay Area, most of my water is well water, but we do have desalination plant here and my utility company says that during a period of drought some of my water comes from that plant. I’m not seeing any damage and am not hearing about any issues.
So, please, tell me - why are desalination plants bad? I’ve heard Israel has at least one plant too.

These should be everywhere along the coast. With the current drought in California, there should be a massive effort to construct these plants. I do understand that marine life is important and in many cases would agree with protecting it over damaging it. But this is a major issue, and the drought will affect wild animals as much as humans.

Yes. But, instead of separating fresh water from salt why not divert fresh water that's now running into the oceans to these thirsty communities before it runs into the oceans?

And with every lake this requires, add hydroelectric power generation?

The more water storage they have, the more moisture that transpires, and the more moisture that evaporates, the more snow and rain that fall when the clouds hit the Sierra Nevadas.

Many are concerned that by cutting all the irrigation and landscape watering, to conserve water, that they are reducing the rainfall that dries the state more resulting in the now annual massive forest fires in the unusually dry forests.

And if they need more water than that, divert part of the Columbia River and the Snake River that is currently just running into the ocean?

These are such obvious answers, but, they likely await a future generation of leaders. Our current generation of "leaders" are old fogeys incapable of innovation.

Obama openly bragged that this nation would likely never again build a major dam project like the Hoover Dam, ever, anywhere! He's such a moron and now his dummy is temporarily occupying the WH.

The state is going to end up with dire shortages because different people can't agree on anything.

Environmentalists we're arguing that this proposed desalination plant would be too energy-intensive, spoil the nature of the coastline, and that there were other options involving rationing, trying to decrease water use increase efficiency, and more water recycling (I disagree, almost all the waste water is recycled as reclaimed water for landscapes). Then they also wanted to recapture water from rain runoff. This would require large water storage facilities and be unreliable since it does not rain often in that climate and is very seasonal.

These are the same environmentalists who won't let the state build new reservoirs.
