Honestly, a couple of years ago I'd have said that you were quite wrong, and that such a thing absolutely could not happen. Now, with all the hate and loathing that has divided Liberals and Conservatives in this country, I'm not nearly as sure about that as I once was. I can hope that all of us are willing to live-and-let-live, and certainly that applies to myself and everyone I know. But who knows when somebody is going to go stark staring nuts, get weapons, and start killing people? As we've seen, even a brilliant scholar, working on a Ph.D in Science can flip out for who knows what reason, and start murdering people in a movie theater! i can't fathom this, and I can't understand this, but I can do my best to make certain that I am not a victim in a similar set of circumstances. Parenthetically, I have not been in a movie theater since April 2004. When you've got a big-screen TV, a great sound system, a couple of DVD players, and movie-streaming by cable, what do you need the inconvenience, misery, and expense of a theater for?
Or... round up the Occupy people who are actually out there committing terrorism. 1 Ohio bridge bomb plot suspect pleads guilty AKRON, Ohio (AP) One of five men charged with plotting to bomb an Ohio highway bridge pleaded guilty Wednesday and agreed to testify against his co-defendants.
We are now getting gun control in our latest cybersecurity bill. Cool, thanks Republicans and Democrats.
Dude, shut up already. Obama and the demorats had the congress and the white house for two years, and did jack (*)(*)(*)(*) about gun control, and now it's the big bad NRA and the tea party boogie monsters. Guess what genius, it's the American public at large that disagree with gun control, and you and your Jack booted statist are the only ones who want a disarmed public. So how's it feel not only to be a phony, but in the minority with a unpopular opinion once again?
Please please let the democrats start in on gun control again. It will be the easiest way for republicans to gain the Senate.
This issue is where I normally draw the line with most of my liberal cohorts I am a card carrying NRA joined a few years back as I began to learn more about hunting, shooting etc. Gun laws restrict access to weapons, however they are normally pretty easily attainable on the black market. No prohibition has EVER worked in our country. Looking at the latest tragedy, no amount of gun reform would have prevented him from killing, the man was intelligent enough to find a way to murder innocent civilians. Now I dont always agree with the NRA, but I do appreciate the work they do to preserve gun ownership. Now only if I could get the NRA to focus in on some of these non-sense laws here in Denver.
There has to be some type of happy medium that is a compromise between the two thoughts. I think there is a difference between putting regulation on guns as to that of banning them, I also believe many NRA members would be for some type of regulation that helps prevent this. I am a member who owns two hand guns and a rifle and I would be for it.... The problem with this school shooting however was not that the gun control laws didnt work, it was simply that the mother wasnt intelligent with her storage of her weapons. So realistically how do people propose this problem be averted? I think the only complete way is to not let this woman have a gun in the first place, something that I am completely against. So instead of right wingers claiming "dont do a (*)(*)(*)(*) thing to our guns" or lefties stating "guns need to be banned altogether!", I would like to see some happy medium. Just not sure what or how it could be approached.
Why does it seem that the most vocal about gun control laws are the ones that know the least about guns and the current laws on the books?
I said it on another thread.......Why on earth should we take gun rights advice from a President and administration that supplied Military style rifles to murderous Mexican Drug Cartels that they used to kill men, women, CHILDREN AND 2 American Law Enforcement Agents????
WHAT MILITARY GRADE WEAPONS are you talking about??? Civilians can only purchase MILITARY GRADE WEAPONS if they have a Class C license which most of us do NOT have and don't have any use for. Hey, Exo, an AR-15 is NOT a MILITARY GRADE WEAPON. Nether is an SKS, MAC-90, or AK-47 or AK-72 that we can buy without a Class C license. And since you have already shown yourself not to know the first thing about weapons my first question is, "Do you always voice an opinion on subjects you know nothing about"???
And please tell me since when did the crazies ever obey the law??? History is our best teacher about guns and gun laws. You might want to take a good hard look at it before making up your mind as to what would be best for America.
Liberals with guns if they were outlawed,.........hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...., ya, right. We believe you because you said it...........hehehehehehehehehe... .
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162...round-checks-deal-apparently-close-in-senate/ LOL, that is the "gun show loophole" that everyone is talking about. I keep hearing on the news (CBS) the talking heads talking about background checks at gun shows (most guns at gun shows are sold by dealers that already do background checks) or online (all dealers selling online send to an FFL that has to do a background check). In other words, they are doing something just to do something and it will do nothing. LOL
I think that Americans are smart enough to understand that the will of the vast majority of the public is being hijacked by a very powerful and well fianced industry lobby. When support for mandatory background checks (including closing the gun control loophole) is in the high 80% range, the will of the people is very clear. But the will of the NRA, and the weapons industry it works for is another thing.
I've been confused by that. If I take this at face value, they are going to pass a law that cancels itself out and will have zero effect, just to say they passed a law.
They mentioned it would not affect sales between friends and family but would if it pertained to an advertisement or online sales (which is already covered) and talks about "Private Dealers" which means they would have to specify a whole new class of dealers not covered under federal law.
BS, the will of lefties in DC and the media are far more POWERFUL than the NRA. Propaganda is powerful, and the media is in full destroy freedom mode on the gun control; issue. Nothing the dem's or the media are pushing for would have stopped Newtown or any other mass killing! So tell me genius, WTF is the point if it isn't disarming the law abibing citizen or collecting more information just for sake of it?
The ridiculous Cloture vote yesterday was a vote to bring the bill to the floor when not one Senator had the bill to read so as usual, they are voting on something so they can read it.
I started a thread on it and i got the expected response. Zero debate and the usual suspects flaming away.
