Some links were posted previously as well - those would do.

If Corona is harmless like Trump said, why did he sign Operation Warp speed? Why is the federal government pushing for a vaccine when Corona is "just like the flu?" Why the urgency to make vaccines for such a harmless virus that only kills 1% of infected people?

I meant to post the very same link that I originally posted, and actually didn't know about the one that you posted. The one that you found is actually more of what I was hoping to find for you (a day by day visual instead of just the weekly numbers), so thanks for that.

Indeed deaths have gone way down since the end of April spike. A similar chart for new cases (if accessible) should show an increase until the same end of April time frame, then stay relatively steady throughout May as quantity of testing kept increasing, then should spike sometime in June (through now) as "potential cases" started being counted and considered in the same manner as "verified cases".

I have personally concluded that a lot of sad game playing has been going on with these numbers to instill fear in people and to have them give up their liberties (giving up their liberty to their own health care decisions and bodily autonomy with regard to "forced mask wearing" in public).

Even the tests themselves are not all that reliable, and a "positive" test result (for an antibody test, anyway) does not necessarily mean that one has or had "covid-19" specifically... It just means that one has or had some type of coronavirus (which could be the common cold or otherwise). These truths are also inflating numbers.

The problem is this. Everyone in Gov't is so "risk averse" that they default to something where the deaths of people can not be attributed to any decision that is made. "You see - we told you to wear that mask".

So you get this narrative developed - not based on science - but based on avoidance of blame.
Voices within Gov't who dare to go against the PC narrative of the day can have troubles. The media also touts the mainstream narrative and you get this self fulfilling cycle of bad decisions and or "not so good" decision.

but - as you touch on. There seems to be something else going on here as well

I agreed with stated rational for the initial lockdown and agree that a pandemic is - like martial law - sufficient cause for weakening of civil liberties - for a brief time.

    1) We did not know how fast this thing was spreading or how lethal it was and had no treatment.
    2) there was a serious risk of overwhelming the hospitals like in Italy where doctors had to choose who would live or die based on the availability of ventilators ... and we were not prepared.

We now know much more about this virus - how it spreads - how lethal it is and are now much better prepared - so for the most part the initial reasons no longer exist.

We should have locked down hard in the beginning and once we "flattened the curve" - opened back up.

The worst thing is half measures .. as this only prolongs the inevitable - as we will all be exposed to some corona - like virus. I prolonging things it increases the economic damage - which I predict will end up killing more than Covid due to this prolonged approach.

The volcano has erupted - the ash caused some damage - but the Economic Tsunami has yet to hit. The longer we prolong opening up society - the bigger the Tsunami will be.

The politicians - will not do what it takes to lessen the economic Tsunami - and deaths from that - because those deaths are not directly attributable to them in the now - rather they work to contain a pandora's box that has already been opened - and can't be put back in the box.

We are going to have flare ups - when this happens we have to lock down a certain region - depending on the nature ... if it is small - say in an old folks home - it is already relatively self contained .. so not much needs be done other than tracing the points of contact which is not difficult to do "My daughter visits me 2 times a month"

Agreed with most of the post. I could quibble with you about my views regarding the lockdown portions of it, for example, but overall a pretty agreeable post.

Yes. I know that. The data I haven't seen is how many have caught it and if it's because they have been in Covid jail or just don't get it.

It is same to assume that far more have caught it and didn't realize at all - or thought they had something mild. In places where social distancing was taken up well by the locals - you still will contain the spread ... but in terms of numbers - the number of unreported must be way higher than reported cases. At the start of this thing you couldn't get a test if you wanted to in many places.

So this means - that this thing is somewhat less harmful than the raw data suggests.

But those have had a few studies to try and determine the numbers.
It should be a simple matter to do some antibody samples of some kids to know.

The point is this - that if you must lock down - the dice thrown - this is the direction we have chosen - as opposed to Sweden - a direction that also has merit and an interesting thing to watch going forward as they will develop herd immunity much faster.

but if we must lock down - it should be "harsh" for lack of a better term - as in like Martial law - and for a short and - now fairly well defined period of time - we have the data ... we know how other nations did it .. we know the metrics - shut down hard - its like no longer than 2 months if done properly - and then get back open

It is half measures and dithering around that is killing us. Either it is Martial Law or it is not. If it is - if this thing is significant enough to warrant martial law - such a threat to life and so on - then do it - until well defined criteria are met .

Now we are living under half martial law .. dithering around. In the mean time - the death toll from not getting the economy open is starting to pile up.

Do you not see this catch 22 we are in. Its something like 40,000 in the USA per 1% increase in the unemployment rate - dead from various afflictions - stress - cancer ... it is interesting.

That is in normal times -when you have major economic distress - folks losing businesses - potential civil unrest - the numbers will be much higher.

This is a monster Tsunami coming - and folks can sense that something has changed already - the calm before the storm. Not just from an economic perspective but a political perspective as well.

I have not seen anything published about antibody tests in children.

publishing takes times - have heard some things in this area being worked on - radio and media - kids for some reason have a suppressed response .. and they also - when tested for virus - have lower numbers by a third if memory serves.

Folks are doing stuff - but for the purposes of solutions to lockdown - kids are not much of an issue.

They are when it comes to sending them back to school and having them come home to kiss grandma. :)
Or will the teachers work if it's not safe for them to be in class with them.

    Europe did it.

    Why can't we?

Why do WE choose to be the ones that do so spactacularly worse than others do?

Of the major economic powers in the world, we now have China and Europe who flattened the virus curve to low numbers and are thus getting restarted.

It's possible to do - just not by America, it seems.

I do understand your point, but all I can say is that "it's complicated". Probably way more complicated than you or I will ever know.

This was a planned event, and there are facts and evidence that show this. Basically that means that precise analysis from the outside looking in is most difficult if not downright futile.

I am convinced that the whole thing was started by way of mercenary individuals literally spreading the stuff in public places. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so.

There is absloute evidence that COVID did NOT come about due to any plan. And, there is zero evidence for your "mercenary" idea. The strains of COVID in the USA can be traced. The vast majority of COVID that we have came from travel from Europe and then spread across the USA in a patter that is exactly what one would expect.

Only WA and CA have strains that came directly from China. All other states have COVID that came from travel from Europe.

The problem from the very start is that there IS NO PLAN overall. There are 50 states and DC trying to muddle through on their own with limited resources - while having to fighht atainst Trump's direction - which is the direction FL took, and is proven to be lethal economically as well as in terms of health.

Europe has done a FABULOUSLY superiod job as data shows.

The idea that we just can't know enough is ridiculous. Europle knew enough.

    Methinks you project overmuch..

Which means you would be the individual spreading stuff in public.

A few factors, esp. industrial agriculture, has created a hothouse for plagues. But that doesn't scratch your itch for conspiracy, now does it.
