Does anyone know where Carson got that figure? Do you have a citation?

Sounds pretty close to the amount given for cost over-runs and faulty weapon systems billed by defense contractors
    over the last 40 years.

Oh, yes I did go there.

He threw out the figure recently. Did not hear all of it - seemed like it was a yearly figure. Hopefully not. Navigating a campaign site for a citation is asking for fundraising spam or an IRS audit. Was hoping a Carson fan would know - and volunteer a url. ;-)

Go to BenCarson.com. He provides most of his findings and if you cannot find it, simply email Ben on what it is you want to know.

If Ben come up with $5.2T dollar waste. That's probably because there is. Or maybe a pile of taxpayer money that all elected officials agree to stuff their pockets with. This is the kind of thing that no matter what political side your on, Ben wants to put a stop to it.

Could it be the "war on poverty " ? Never mind , that can't be it , that is at least 3 times as much .

Will check his website. $5.2 trillion in annual waste could be diverted into a very welcome refund to a struggling electorate. Even cynics like to get their money back. Carson has good issues - needs to amp it up.

I think he referred to a GAO report. Have not seen a news story about it though.

The War On Poverty is a terrible ineffective waste. Too much bureaucracy and crony capitalism too little real help to the poor and unemployed.
