    In the US in majority of areas - yes. We do have some dangerous areas - im a big very tall guy and when I was in Detroit I was advised against walking 5 blocks in downtown at night - something unheard of in downtown Chicago, which is considered to be a dangerous city.
    See, I can admit weaknesses in the US, because I’m not a nationalist.
    Maybe it’s time for you to realize that germany isn’t perfect?
    I do remember reading, even on this forum, about a spike in rapes in Germany.

    And how you prevent uk, poland and france to mistrust us then? If we go to 2% our military would be bigger than uk and france combined. It would change alot in security politics.

    So you are asking what stops a 4th Reich? Well the US and UK stopped three third one and that was when Germany was much more powerful than it is today.

    I live in Chicago, and have been walking around in the most dangerous areas - it’s not that I’m afraid, but the risk of being hurt by an accident, or being robbed is pretty high. That’s true and there is no reason to try to hide it.
    I really was surprised with people insisting on me taking a cab in Detroit - those were the people from Chicago and they know me well.

    Germany today has the potential to be more powerful than ever before. We already are political and economic hegemon of europe. If we add military on that level it can create tensions. Thats a fact.

    Why should we? If German military becomes number 2 it will be more powerful than Russia - French involuntary defacate when they think of Russians, British run around and hide behind Americans when they think of them. You’d replace Russians. Build your military and live happily ever after.

    This is true I worked security and as a police officer in the worst parts of Houston. Perhaps I'm just desensitized.

    In meetings at work some employees say they are afraid to contradict me because of my appearance. I run accounting department. :) Many claim that my ventures to the most dangerous parts of the city without any incident are the result of the way I look.
    In reality I’m a nice guy who likes to have a beer with just about anyone. Along with a drunk conversation about politics. :)
