Until now we win alot. Our economy rises even faster. Lots of countries sanction USA business and move their business to Germany.

I'd be fine with that. you're in the region, and you are the first line of defense against Russia since you're right there. The real point here though is that what Trump said, you have shown to be true.
You harped on about not needing a Military because you're surrounded by NATO. NATO currently is a bunch of Nations who are not adding the muscle they need to add for NATO to be the force you are telling yourself it is.

And you being one of them is a shame since you are one of the biggest players in NATO.

And you want that we buy all those ships, aircrafts ect in USA i guess and not our own.

You also want us to buy american gas, which is 30% more expensive.

Are we allowed to have some interests for our own or must do what USA want? We could cancel elections here. Why bother when you decide anywaye?

Why would you be tying your very energy existence to the adversary that NATO was created to defend against? To save a few bucks???

Doesn't that kind of send a mixed message? At the very least, it raises doubts from other Nations about Germany and it's commitments to NATO.

Not sure how you can be in NATO while being so dependant on it's adversary. Who would you choose if push came to shove?

That was long ago. Russia is not going to be attacking Britain/France/Germany any more than they are the US.

The idea that some US soldiers at bases on France is "protects France from Russia" is preposterous nonsense. What protects France from Russia is being the 3 largest nuclear power on the planet.

Our bases in Europe serve as a platform for attacks on places such as Afghanistan the Middle east and Libya and Yugoslavia - they have no ability nor is it their purpose to protect France from Russia.

Trump's belittling of our allies by inferring that they can not protect themselves and that we are the ones protecting them from Russia and thus should act like some kind of vassal state is not how to win friends and influence people.

Nor any NATO members, which he clearly would be a threat to do, without NATO.

You're economy is strongly dependent on exports. Germany will lose.

I don't know about that. If Russia wants to go into "Latvia" ... they will go into Latvia. Missile defense in Poland could get taken out should the bear be poked one too many times.

No, as they do want Latvia, but are prevented from invading it by NATO. You really need to come to terms with the fact that NATO is an effective deterrent against Putin's expansionism.

Soviet military doctrine was this. If they get their army into your city, you can't nuke them because you would be nuking yourself.
So they built their military for speed.

France's nuclear deterrent, like the UK's nuclear deterrent is very small.
The Russians could conceivable destroy all those subs at sea and no one even know for a few weeks.
So both Britain and France would feel safer if they combines their deterrents make themselves a harder target.
Problem is no one trusts another country to commit to MAD for anyone except themselves. And so NATO has no command over nuclear weapons which are all independent from NATO.

Most NATO members however do not have nuclear weapons. Those 25 countries require blocking armies by nuclear powers to keep Russia in check.
And that is where America and France and the UK are providing their defence. Lithuania can't nuke Russia, but attacking British and American forces in Lithuania may provoke said countries to. Probably not to be quite honest, but that's the best hope Lithuania has.

Trump has Brotherly love and envy for putin. Putin is a man who has absolute power and deference... and most importantly has been able to extract enormous wealth from his position. What’s not to like and admire?

There's no consensus that NATO is currently unprepared to meet threats from Russia. Macron, for one, believes NATO is prepared.
They rode to our side in Afghanistan.

"With a contingent of 5,350 soldiers and policemen, Germany is one of the main contributors of troops to coalition operations in Afghanistan. Although German troops mainly operate in the comparatively quiet north of the country, the Bundeswehr has suffered a number of casualties during participation in the International Security Assistance Force mission in Afghanistan.

As of May 5, 2013, 54 German soldiers and three policemen died in Afghanistan, raising the death toll to 57. Among them are the first German reservists to fall in hostile actions and the first German policemen to die in a deployment abroad since World War II. In addition to these fatalities, 245 German soldiers and four police officers suffered injuries of varying degree caused by hostile activity."

We slapped tariffs on the EU, not Germany, and we did so first. Why can't Germany buy energy from Russia when we're buying Russian timber?

Then there's Canada sitting on at least 200 billion bbls. of recoverable oil in the tar sands. America is driving Canada to trade access to that oil and other resources for free trade agreements. How dumb is that?

You seem to be under the impression that we had no military during the cold war period.

France can also deliver nuclear weapons by air. If the U.S. withdrew from NATO, the UK and France could step forward with greater readiness.

Tell me--how fast can they move Moscow?
So, are we going to save Poland or the Baltic states?
Ever thus. Should small countries develop doomsday WMD?
