Everybody has heard Charles Ramsey's name by now. He helped three women escape from a house next door that had been missing for ten years in Cleveland, Ohio. I knew from the moment he started to get a lot of media attention, someone would try to dig up dirt on him and tear him down and it has happened already. Domestic abuse arrests of Ramsey from over ten years ago were dug up by a media company. We really need to examine our culture of finding fault with everything and everyone.

domestic abuse arrests from over 10 years ago? i would honestly take any domestic abuse charge with a grain of salt these days. for all we know he was with a crazy ass woman who lied, or hurt herself and pretended this guy did it. doesnt take much at all for a man to go to jail over a domestic matter. hell now in the state of Tennessee, if someone calls the cops over a domestic dispute of any kind, no matter what someone has to go to jail for the night. So basically if my girl got pissed off enough and decided to call the cops because we are in a shouting match and they show up.... one of us is going to the slammer and it sure as hel wont be her.

people are pathetic, dude did something good and all the man has against him are petty charges that may just be because of an overzealous ex. besides it was 10 years ago, big friggin deal.

Domestic abuse arrests from over 10 yrs ago?! And nothing since?

So this media place decided to smear his name.... if it hadn't been for him, very most likely those 3 women and 6 yr old girl would still be held captive and suffering....

Some people are such cold bastards......

After Ramsey exploded into viral superstardom thanks to his heroic actions (and follow-up interviews), several websites posted the details from 3 separate domestic violence arrests involving an ex-wife that all took place between 1997 and 2003. We spoke to Ramsey, who told us ... "I've made amends with the people involved and we've all moved on and grown up." Ramsey adds, "Those incidents helped me become the man I am today and are the reason why I try to help the community as much as I can ... Including those women." "If I had so much hatred for women, I would have minded my own business this week and walked away instead of risking my life to save someone else." For her part, Ramsey's ex-wife says Charles eventually apologized for the domestic incidents and the two are now on an "okay basis."

A lot of people can't say that.... they don't change - they just stay angry and violent, don't care about others, don't care about improving themselves......

I hope all kinds of good things will happen for him....

One thing I got to thinking about was the little 6 yr old girl. Already 6 and had never played w/another child, went to the park, went swimming, played on play equipment, never had a home-cooked meal, never saw a Disney movie, never saw beautiful trees, flowers, rivers, lakes, a sky full of white, puffy clouds, sunshine, a sunset........ nothing.

From the time she was born, she saw nothing but gloom & doom of a dreary, run-down house w/locked doors and violence.

If it hadn't been for Charles Ramsey, she would still be living in that hell hole.....

He'll be fine. Every time the guy opens his mouth I like him better and better. And unlike our lovely politicians, I doubt very much anyone writes his lines for him.

To be fair to any media outlets involved there are so many hobbyist internet detectives out there going through public records of arrests and so on that it would have come out anyway.

I know its so shocking that a black man has an arrest record! The thing in life is, if you mess up, then you have a choice, be a effing loser, or change. Its really not unheard of in this day and age of a young man messing up but the progs act like it is the most unheard of thing ever when it fits their agendas.

He should have shut the door in her face. No good deed goes unpunished. It's just not worth getting involved anymore.

That (*)(*)(*)(*) happens all the time. I have a friend who cam upon a roll over accident so he pulled over, got the driver away from the car because there was gas leaking all over the place and called 911. The cops got there gave him a breathalyzer and busted him for DUI. Now I understand he was technically breaking the law, but he would have got nothing if he would have kept on driving and left that person there to die.

I know, but there is nothing the media will not do to someone that gets thier pic in the paper.
Me, I would have let her out called 911 from my cell and never told a sole who I was.

    No, he was NOT "technically"
breaking the law, he was REALLY breaking the law.

And I will suggest that if he was helping out and they busted him, there is a pretty good chance he was quite apparently intoxicated, and the police were unwilling to let him go back to driving. They, like myself, have seen too much blood and death from drunken driving to just smile and wave a drunk on his way, even if he was helpful..

Thats why he should have just kept on going home and not worried about?
I stopped at a mulitple roll over on I95 a few years ago.
I was looking for a way around it as it was happening in front of me. Throwing bodies and luggage out over my car.
It took downshifting and standing on the brakes to get stopped from 70 mph and only missed the SUV by less than foot.
There were cars right next to me on the right, and if I had done what I thought about and go in the grass. I would have ran over people that may otherwise had lived.
I wanted nothing to do with that wreck, I would have called it in and kept going, not being a medically trained person.
But the BS depositions, trials and phone calls from lawyers was almost too much. I should have backed up and gone around as soon as traffic cleared enough.
Unless you are in the accident by vehicle contact, never stop, never get involved. Call the police and never look back.

The police could have given him a warning and a ride home.

What you want to bet this guy is a conservative, and was targeted by some left wing media outlet like Daily Kos or Media Matters, their mission is to destroy lives.

This attitude is why it is SOOOO ironically hypocritical when the Righties try to demand that this is a "Christian country".

I don't remember ANY part of the Bible where Jesus suggested we should to the "right thing" for their fellow man because of the rewards or lack of hassles we would get on earth.

But, by gosh, our Religious Right sure seems to have its hand out for a reward if they DO do the "right thing", and always a MILLION excuses NOT to do so.

Which he should have done. Never help, never stop, never get involved. Not worth the hassle.

Now that I have a phone with my name attached to it, I won't even call 911 anymore. Just keep going, wind it up to 75MPH as soon as it's clear, maybe more if traffic & conditions permit. (My Caddy loves to cruise at 85.)

Yet another nugget scrounged out of your underwear. What gives you the idea that it is progressives trying to tear Ramsey down? Seems to me that this must really be a pain in the ass for conservatives who want to act like black people who do one violent act should be thrown out like trash. You have done it yourself, right on these pages.

To those of you who say it is best to drive on by, do not complain about it if somebody leaves you bleeding to death on the side of the road because they are worried about a law suit.

They can call 911 and keep going. Just like I would do.
