Give us an example of anti- gay legislation. If you can.

There is a vast difference between being anti-gay and not standing side by side with the LGBTQ on every issue.

Somehow, in so many liberal minds, not being as publicly vocal about the fight is the same as being against them. We see it all the time. If you don't agree with the liberals, you're a racist, or deplorable, etc. This is just one example.

There is this subset of Christians who like to think they are not anti-gay, simply by opposing same sex marriage. They feel they have moderated their stance sufficiently, by becoming a kinder and gentler faith. So they do not discuss their opposition to gay relationships and gay sex outside of marriage as frequently or as vehemently as they did a generation ago, in due deference to gay and lesbian parishioners or youth in their pews. The idea is sort of a religious 'don't ask us, we won't tell you how much of a sinner, you are' because we see we have put you and your families in a bit of a bind with constant scripture quoting. They don't think that is an anti-gay position because they are willing to share their potato salad, and let gays stay in their prayer circle.

I suppose it is much better in that they are no longer asking parents to shun their own kids or endorsing conversion therapy, but it is still an inherently anti gay position to call their relationships and sex sinful both in and out of wedlock whether they are soft-selling it or hard selling it.

Their flippant and obtuse demeanor on the position of Chick-fil-A is a waste of bandwidth.

Big Deal. So don't send them money and don't eat at Chik-fil-a. You don't seem to grasp the concepts of individual freedom and liberty that is the foundation of this great country.

The Left seems to have a lot of mean hateful exclusionary folks in their coalition.

This is the thing that kills me. If some feel that they aren't getting adequate attention, that makes those who don't pay attention to them adequately "anti gay".. this is ridiculous. It certainly creates the problem of setting the lines that some who feel this way then can cast as the opposition when most of the time, there isn't actual opposition. What so many in the LGBT political wing fail to understand is that being ignored by most folks isn't a bad thing for them. Being ignored just means, no one actually cares about how gay or militant you are as a lesbian. It's only when gay folks cast themselves as these magnets of attention that it becomes difficult for them.

As gay folk, why do we choose this? I know I don't. And for me, being left alone is vastly more important to me than clubbing others for their perceived lack of support... I mean, let's at least be honest here. Do gay folks actually mostly support their hetero counterparts? I don't think that in my experience I can point to many in the community who do.

So, Chic Fil A doesn't beat the gay drum. So what? I would feel pandered to if they did. But many aren't able to see that.

The question I answered was whether groups that Chik-fils-a donated money to, were actually anti-gay. These groups are not just ignoring the topic. They are actively promoting an anti-gay position in how they run their 'charities'. The churches I describe in the post you quote. are anti gay because they consistently oppose homosexuality and homosexual relationships as sin. That they no longer make it the subject of weekly sermons so that gays can comfortably sit in the pews and take communion does not turn them into neutral parties. It turns them into churches that have put their anti gay views into better perspective , and who see value in ensuring gay people who live active lifestyoes are not driven from the fold, are not persecuted, and are not treated like vermin.

As to chic Fil -a itself, I have taken a more nuanced stance than you seem to think. I disapprove of efforts to drive a CEO out of his job with economic boycotts because of his private conduct in opposition to same sex marriage, because I would be outraged at hypothetical efforts to fire or punish an employee who marched for those rights. I think the best way for us to ensure an appropriate line between on the premises, on the clock, in uniform conduct and off the clock, off the lot, out of uniform conduct among employees is to respect the same line in corporate management. But when corporations muddy the lines by sending their corporate checks to politically sensitive or controversial causes, its a little harder to oppose economic countermeasures. Chic Fil-A does not actively discriminate against gay customers or employees. It does send its revenue to charitable groups that do. It no longer sends that money to groups that perpetuate a fraud, and destroy lives in the name of 'conversion therapy'. That is a form of abuse that I cannot continence and those checks should never have been sent.

Chic Fil-A is currently right on the borderline. I like to reward what I see as substantial improvement, but I can't oppose a boycott. but I don't really want to support one either.

How wishy washy of you. I tell folks all the time, if you don't buy the sandwich, there is a long line of others who do. If it makes you feel better about yourself, great. I still think it's an intentionally self inflicted wound though, and no one in the larger community is going to take bullets for this cause. So martyrdom without applause seems entirely antithetical to the political gay agenda.....

Let us not forget Facebook's little scandal of banning the Chic-Fil-A page by claiming they were "eliminating hate groups from their platform" Yet openly allow BLM who advocate for dead police, Antifa, as well as recruiters for Isis and other radical Islamic organizations.

I'm seeing some hidden priorities here. Are you?

They took a few between the years 2012 or there would not be a backlash and conservative states passing statutes. As for martydom, I am not seeing any political downside . What 'consequences' have you seen to the gay rights agenda to this boycott? At worse, it fizzles because of boredom, indifference and a lack of fuel. I think the 'lack of fuel' was a direct result of the boycott. Chik-fils has been chastened into changing its more politically aggressive anti-gay policy

You may not like it but that negative press and subsequent boycott worked.

And every year. As a side note, evidently, we are in for some record cold temps here in TX this week...

While I do applaud your desire to be left alone (more or less) by not being pandered to your statement about not "supporting their hetero counterparts" belies that boldness. I'm hoping that what you really mean is what I live by: live and let live....which desires neither support NOR pandering.

What crap. TX passed this law because a couple liberal dolts in San Antonio outstretched their britches and needed to get smacked back to reality. Normally, I find passing stuff like this to be useless, and waste of time and resources, even said as much. But for the liberal crack heads who thought that they should punish a company because they don't like them seems at least a good use of time because nothing tells liberals where the rails are better than a good old fashioned public lampooning of their stupidity. If only tar and feathers was still a thing.....

I was making a point about others, not me in particular that is pretty accurate in the community. Straight folks are condemned, laughed at, otherwise derided for being straight broadly in the community. I don't agree with it, but it is a fact the community also has to recognize about themselves. Live and let live is always the best policy. On this we agree.

What crap. Liberals and gay rights advocates really don't care what Texas does with respect to this law. They already got the most substantive concessions from Chic-Fils-A years ago.

Lol. I guess I should say I am straight but have many not straight friends. I have not heard them make fun of folks for being straight .... For being generally stupid, flashy, etc....yes, but that's across the board. My gay male friend I used to work with would come get me and say, "come tell me if he's gay.....your gaydar is better than mine." ;) We live in a mostly very conservative town so many of our gay guys aren't so obvious (out there). I guess that's why I'm friends with lots of folks .....my live and let live views. :)
(I meant nothing derogatory to you either.)

Fire going? Hell no. I'll be the one wearing shorts and short sleeves trying to absorb as much "cold" as I can. Lol

    Yes.
Now Texas has a law forbidding gov't from such discrimination
as San Antonio did on Chick A fil.

Makes me wonder how many other States offer Chick A fil Law like protections,
and why wasn't it a Federal discrimination case?
