F China. They'd be lucky to beat Japan.

$90 billion? The U.S. military budget slated for next year is 7 times that amount, and we have a smaller sized military than they do. No secret who would win that conflict, what with our high tech weaponry making chop suey out of those slant-eyed commies.

How is China going from making poor copies of 2nd generation Soviet aircraft to a home grown 5th generation fighter?

I don't think they're dumb enough to start anything. If they do I just hope we're smart enough to stay out of that Asian land war. Of course, if the Indians want to buy our guns that's cool. hehe.

There's no way Japan could stand up to China. They don't have a strong military and they have very few resources.

WOW, I'm impressed with the investigate effort that went into that article, but, they could have found out the same thing (in detail) going here to Global Security.org:

But that site is Top Secret and nobody goes there anyways.

India would be a tough nut to crack with the mountain range in between.

Japan ,on the other hand, is vulnerable by air and sea. I'm sure the japanese have thought about that too. May be time to re-arm?

Japan alone? Ehh debatable. The United States and Japan? Easily. Please note that the US would get involved the literal second any conformation erupted between those two..

It's ironic how Americans here view China as an aggressive nation that will expand their empire with violence, murder and war. It reminds me of the Arabic saying which translated to "everyone view others in the same way they think themselves"

We are not at war with Afghanistan. Or didn't you get the memo? Otherwise, you know danged well that we could easily nuke Afghanistan and all who live there back to the Jurassic Era. It's those pesky innocent civilians that keep getting in our way and mucking up our game. :fart:

They have tangled in the north before, but the real contest would likely be in the Indian ocean. Both powers are building blue water navies. China has a long oil supply line stretching from the Arabian Gulf, through the Indian ocean, around S/E Asia, and finally to China proper.

China's war machine is extremely vulnerable to submarine warfare. This is one big reason that they are building up their navy. I don't think India will be crazy about Red Chinese carrier battle-groups in the Indian ocean.

They got a long way to catch up if they want to spend over $500 Billion USD per year on the military and that's not including the $2billion each week for Afganistan.

China's too smart to use military force. They have something more powerfull; Economic power. Big fat money that buys everything from souls to sex, and pays for life.

In China 180 billion = 500 billion in USA.

    Slaves are cheap in China.

China does not have to fight us alone.

they have many allies around the world that could stretch our military very thin.

Plus I'm afraid that the age of carrier dominance on the oceans is coming to an end due to advancing missile technology.

I agree with you on this. Much like the Battleship with the evolution of the Airplane, the Carriers timeline is finite.

As far as the hypothetical war with China goes....they can field an Army larger than our population. We better be ready to make the tough choices like we did in WW2.

In WWII we used our manufacturing base to out produce the Japanese.

Since those factories are in China now I'd say we are screwed this time.

firstly, US should double their millitory spending since they are facing chinese threat.
secondly, US should double the number of their army in japan, korea, phillipine, afg, iraq, libya, syria, etc. especially, US should send these persons posting here to iraq, afg.

That would never happen. Not with today's Generation X-Box. The Greatest Generation has been replaced with a bunch of whiny, pansy, liberal freeloaders who think that everything is owed to them instead of earned by them.
