I can tell you that in France one's faith is openly expressed and practised. Churches are an integral part of French society , continue to do what they always did on request ) Baptists marriages and funerals plus worship and community service). I personally am involved in a Catholic charity but by no means am Catholic.

What makes France secular is that they do not get involved in state matters or politics and they do not overtly pronounce their faith in public.
People of faith are indeed IN politics but they leave their declared faith at the door. They do not operate according to tenets of faith as described in texts or teaching.
Your premise is not reflective of the truth on the ground in France.
