What do you think of this? I've grown disillusioned with the NBA (college hoops are much more exciting to watch), but I still tune in for the finals and for the drama. Watching the Warriors/Cavaliers games last season I was convinced that Irving was hurting his team more than he was helping them. I know he's good, but it's clear he wants to be the star player rather than a team player. LeBron is good enough to be the star, but smart enough to know he needs to elevate the entire team. I suspect Irving is one of those players who will be perpetually disappointed with his teammates, coaches, management, etc. Boston will probably trade him again in a few years. I agree with the assessment in this article - by bringing in Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder, the Cavs have a better shot at getting back to the finals and showing Golden State (who will almost definitely be back) a slightly new look. Don't know if it'll be enough to win, but it should make it a more entertaining contest. https://www.sbnation.com/2017/8/23/16187088/kyrie-irving-trade-cavaliers-celtics-great
I would have let James go before Irving. Whether or not you think James is better now, which I think is debatable, he wont be in 3 years. Pro sports is always about winning, but with an eye to the future. The future was brighter with Irving than with James.
LeBron has full NTC, and you actually think it's debatable what player is better now? LeBron is still the best player in the NBA.
I don't know man, how many first-round draft picks has Tom Brady outlasted? Also, James is disciplined, Irving is after glory. Next season should prove entertaining.
Irving has proven himself already. He's going to have to change his game some, but in 3 years I think the Celtics got the better deal here.
Why? We lost crowder AND the NYN 1st pick. This trade may benefit us in the short term, but Cleveland in the long term. We were never gonna sign Isaiah Thomas for the 200 mil anyway.
