Your right, he talks, he negotiates, then threatens, and walks away with tale tucked between legs.
Now he's giving Mexico a year to do something. Closing the border rant is history.
Funny he didn't think about all this immigration while he was doing NAFTA 2.0 that has yet to see congress.
Or he doesn't implement his 3 day plan he outlined during his campaign.
He does talk a lot, but accomplishes much of NOTHING.

His 1st yr accomplishments were so great, He and his accomplishments were laughed at on the world stage by world leaders. Whining.

 

All good ideas. For some reason, no one from either side even talks about fixing the root cause.
Haven't addressed the root cause in 40 yrs.

Spend the $25B on root cause fixes, not on a fix that just alters the immigrants routes.

 

Simple- I, a staunch conservative voted for Obama, because I felt he was being honest and would actually try to bring the nation together. Instead, he laid the groundwork for socialism, starting with teh Obamacare disaster and forcing people who didn't want to insure to pay anyway. Today I'm ashamed of voting for him- but not for doing what I thought was the right thing at the time. In other words, I vote for the man, not the party. And I don't deny the good achievements while and looking at the bad- it is the overall that matters.

And never- never was Obama treated like Trump has been, nor his supporters treated as Trumps are. The new/left/lib/dems (hard to tell which philosophy is controlling them) are setting records everyday for juvenile and asinine behavior- as well as fabrication of "evidence", outright lying and acts unfit for any one with political power and responsibility.

All his opponents want to make light of what he has accomplished, to remove the score.... just as those nations he has brought to the table have.
Recent interview with the head of NATO for example, (Jen Stoltenburg) revealed that Trump's tough talk had worked, and those other nations has resulted in the other nations adding 100 Billion in funding.
Is that nothing? No previous president has been able to move them. So is Trump just "lucky"? You wish.

If you are an illegal and we catch you we will make your life so miserable you will never come back.

All medical services, even emergency are now cut off to illegals, all employers will be shut down if they are caught hiring illegals, all schools will be forbidden from teaching illegals. If you are caught renting to illegals you lose your house.

We can make it so miserable here for them that none of them would ever dream of coming here.

I wonder if you ever considered the sheer quantity of things that a president must juggle every day, every hour- all the information, and the people constantly throwing questions and demands at him, all the people acting stupidly and selfishly, all the world events he needs to keep a handle on? Of course you haven't. I doubt you can imagine that, let alone come close to managing it if you were in his place. You can of course, criticize- but that requires neither talent or intelligence or competence, anyone can do it. Ask yourself if under those circumstances, if you would always get the details (most of which, like this, have no real impact on the events you must keep is focus) correct- or if you might mis-state such things. Of course you wouldn't- or at least, you like to tell yourself that.

Most presidents have relied on canned information in communicating with the public. Not only pre-written speeches, but coaching sessions before any public speaking. Staff writers and researchers have carefully figured out what a particular audience wants to hear and what they don't want to hear. They tell the president what to avoid subjects, and how to imply agreement without agreeing or committing-so they "cultivate" approval by hiding their true identity from the public. John Kennedy's father Joe once told him that in politics, who you are doesn't matter- only what the people think you are matters. Never before have we had a president that wasn't putting on an act, a 24-hour front at all times for the public, a show carefully orchestrated to get the best acceptance. Trump- not being a dedicated political animal, thinks you deserve direct honesty from your president..... but in many ways, Joe Kennedy was right. You would rather be told things that comfort you than truth, because you don't really want to know the truth about politics. But of course, not being willing to own up to that, we are righteous in our criticism.... as long as we are not having to look at ourselves and ask how well we would do in that position.

Why not pass a federal law instituting national E-verify to work? Legal immigrants would be able to work; illegal immigrants would not be able to work.

 

Neither side has made any attempt at dealing with immigration since the dems screwed Reagan after the amnesty.

The reason is simple, it's too good of a topic to campaign and fund raise on.

 

Because there are always ways around such. Those who are willing to hire illegal aliens simply so they can pay lower wages, will simply find a way of falsifying matters to continue with the status quo.

 

Then prosecute the employer if they do that. We start putting employers in jail for that, and they'll stop doing it mighty quick.

 

You are right to a certain extend. Like not tying the minimum wage to cost of living which no party has passed because that keeps it a political football.

Otherwise a number of reasons. The nearsightedness of traditional Republican conservatism that is for what is good for business but does not take the long term view and the Democratic thirst for power thinking that amnesty for illegals will boost their votes.

It actually depends how much money Mexican and south Americans are funneling into the respective hives! I personally know of just two "Brothers" that combined, drive on minimum 30K a month to their relatives that are expanding large cattle ranches and assorted other businesses in Mexico..

A top that, the roust about service they provide here hire zero American and pay their Latino help twelve bucks an hour under the table! Soo at what loss do we turn a blind eye to while ignoring the entire scenario?

Wouldn't the simplest thing be to deny 'citizen privileges' to foreign nationals, the way most nations do?

I live in a multicultural nation, yet we have very little in the way of illegal entry - purely because there is no golden egg. An illegal cannot get ANYTHING here. No govt assistance of any kind, no healthcare, no drivers' licence, no bank account, no education, no nothing. They must pay for everything in cash, and can never be formally employed. And they absolutely definitely cannot vote.

No idea why America allows foreign nationals to plunder the coffers. It's utterly insane.
