Police say they discovered someone downloading explicit images of children over a file-sharing network, then traced the download to the Internet service provider of Thomas Harold Morgan, also known as "Sondance the Clown." They then obtained a search warrant for the 47-year-old's home, the New York Daily News reported. Fort Smith police spokesman Steven Dooly told CBS News there was "enough material on the computer that it would take [investigators] at least 2 or 3 weeks to go through." Morgan's clowning website states that he has spent over twenty years working on his career. Being a clown, the website states, "is something deep inside." This is not the first time the Arkansas entertainer has had a run-in with the law. In 2010, the Daily Mail reports, he was asked to leave the Arkansas Oklahoma State Fair after showing up in his clown suit without being registered as a performer. Morgan has worked a variety of venues, including circuses, large-scale events, and small parties. His website states that he has studied childhood development, meaning that, "I know how to interact with kids." Police arrested Morgan on one count of distributing, possessing or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child, Fox News reports, but the clown has not yet been formally charged. He is being held at a local jail without bond.

I knew a man in Colorado who was arrested for having child pornography. He wasn't a friend of mine but I knew someone who knew him well and I wrote expressing my surprise. The response I got from my friend said the man arrested had about 300 pornographic video clips. He readily admits that. The police said that two of the clips include a woman who appeared "to them" to be under the age of eighteen. I wonder how you know. If they said they appeared to be prepubescent, maybe but appeared to be 17 instead of 18. I think there might be a witch hunt on that's out of hand. But, as with this clown, once you're arreted, you're toast. Even if you go to court and get acquitted, you're toast. It's mu understanding that even when they go to court there is no requirement to prove the cideos or photos are of children. Just, the look under 18. Kind of scary.

Most of the child porn on the net probably comes from countries like the Ukraine and the Netherlands where the legal age is 16. Therefore it's a pretty safe assumption that the vast majority of child porn on the net is of 16-17 year olds and the vast majority of people arrested for child porn looked at images of 16-17 year olds-that they no doubt thought where adults. I mean how much difference in appearrance is there between many 16-17 year olds and many 18-22 year olds? If you look at porn I would never go to a site that doesn't have airtight legal statements.

On May 1, 2011, a man was arrested on allegations that he had been operating a website that sold and distributed child exploitation films and images worldwide, According to the statement, he had paid different people to film the children featured in these films, which were in turn sold on the website. The company earned revenues of upwards of $4 million, according to the statement. Toronto police then tracked the identities of customers of the site around the world, resulting in 341 arrests and the rescue of 386 children. The statement credits the participation of a wide range of international agencies for the successful outcome of the operation.
