There is apparently a list of 11 people being considered to replace Comey, and there are betting odds online for it. By the betting odds, there didn't seem to be a clear leader at first, with Cornyn and Gowdy at the top, but it now appears that McCabe is the top choice per these odds.
I doubt they will confirm a new FBI director until Trump turns over the tape of his conversation with Comey.
I'll need to listen to more news on this to sort them all out. I'm just wondering about the loyalty oath that goes with it.
I'm pretty sure that if you take one oath to uphold and defend the Constitution that goes to exclude all other oaths.

Loyalty oath? Oh, is this one of those things from the uncorroborated anonymous sources? Uncorroborated anonymous sources seem to have so much dirt these days.
Meh, doesn't matter who Trump picks. The Demos will Obstruct. Schumer is already talking about holding up any Trump Pick.
So will the Republicans.. They want to hear the Comey tape and a special prosecutor re: the Russian monkey business.
I doubt they will Obstruct Gowdy or Cornyn. Nice try Margot, did the Demo Underground give you your talking points today?
Rosenstein’s Compelling Case Against Comey..... Demands for a special prosecutor are way off base. The guardrails of our republic are secure. I have seen them, but I didn't write them down. They are calling for a new FBI director who has solid law enforcement and that both sides will respect as bipartisan.. and McConnell is calling for less drama from the WH.
I voted Trey Gowdy only because it's the name I have heard floated around the most. I have zero idea as to who Trump will actually pick for the job. We will likely find out soon however who he wants to fill the shoes of James Comey in the FBI.
Condaleza Rice would be my first choice. She most likely would not take the position, but I would bring her in and see if she could be convinced. She is one of the smartest and highly underrated National Security Advisor's, we have ever had.
Don't bet the farm, MMC. These whining, militant, America-hating, spoiled socialists will fight like mad dogs against anyone and anything that they think could harm their idiotic march toward a New-World-Order "utopia". Obviously, avoiding any new, no-bullshit "law-and-order" FBI Director would be near the top of their hit list. Hint: Can you imagine Trey Gowdy as FBI Director?! Hoo, boy! And the Democrats?! Talk about watching the cockroaches run for cover when you turn on the bright lights in a dark kitchen at night! ."What we want is another FBI Director who just looks for INTENT instead of CRIMES...!"
Other. Former Maricopa County, Az. Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Twenty years (1992 - 2012) as America's toughest Sheriff. Think about it, ten years (2013 - 2023) FBI Director Joe Arpaio, the toughest G-Man in America's history.
Really? Wasn't she the one who used the threat of a "mushroom cloud" to convince Americans (and the Congress) to support a senseless war against Iraq? Is she regarded as "one of the smartest" and "highly underrated" because she was such a convincing liar? Is that the kind of leader conservatives and the alt-right admire and want to inflict onto our nation now? Ugh! Disgusting!
