Not only do they have to pay the highest taxes, no the also have the highest living standards.
That in contrast to those, who claim we should lower the tax burden for business and become the 51st US state.

I think we should rethink the way we perceive this world, in many respects....

Id love to see some real evidence on the effects of reducing company tax. I’m always suspicious that this is simply a ploy to manipulate money circulation and lock heaps of it up in the top economic eschelon. Maybe this is why wealth distribution is incredibly top end heavy in the states and certainly heading that way in Australia. People in many parts of the US are working for peanuts because employment is scarce. The arse of the middle class in the mid west has dropped out! The massive stimulus that was fed into the top end (banks) just didn’t filter down. I believe it is all just a big con!

Norway would be just one notch poorer than Sweden (which might still not be too bad though) if it wasn't for the small population relative to the country's substantial offshore natural gas reserves.

Someone has a real problem with everything European, it seems (and it's not the OP).
Norway does things the way they want and the results speak for them. It doesn't mean it would work in other parts of the world in exactly the same way.
Yes, they have high taxes but also an extremely high living standard, and they've been good at winter sports for many years.
But, hey, it's all just because ... natural resources ... small population ... otherwise would be ... blah.

Well, according to the section this thread was posted in, Norway is somewhere in the pacific, maybe close to Australia, so it shouldn't be cold at all. ;-)

That's what it is all about, the Olympics, isn't it?
Enjoy what you are doing, represent your country, but also pay respect to the winner.....

Norway is good at winter sports because of taxation? Well, heck. Why don't Kiribati raise their taxes to 1000% to become giants in not only winter sports, but all sports there are.

This is the most disgusting piece of propaganda I have ever encountered. Norway is good at winter sports thanks to ecology and culture. Nothing more to it.

Anyways, I always thought Sweden had the highest taxes in the world. Swedes even go to Norway for work to avoid this.

Well well, the senate rejected the proposed company tax cuts! I’m with Pauline on this: Tax cuts won’t create new jobs, big corporations are earning billions in profits but are still cutting jobs.
Nope, I’m not becoming a Hanson fan, but she certainly has what seems like a valid point on this one!

A lot can be learned from what Canada's Prime Minister Mackenzie King initiated back in 1940..... it worked wonders for our economy until his policy was abandoned in 1974......
