Well, we've waited since 1993 for the Republicans to offer an alternative.

When they had the House and Senate and or the White House, they offered NOTHING.

When the President proposed Obamacare, they offered NOTHING

    Now, they offer NOTHING.

So, given that political reality, it isn't the "left" that leaves us with a binary choice, its the GOP

I call BS on these numbers... these numbers are just the opinion of people they surveyed. They claimed they couldn't afford insurance.... but could they REALLY not afford it or were their priorities screwed up?

Do they have a computer? Internet? A tv (especially if it's a big tv)? Cabled or satellite? Do they have a car? Do they have rims on that car? Do they get their hair and nails done at a salon? Do they have a playstation or an xbox? Do they have a computer? Do they go out to eat? Do they do any extracurricular activities? Do they go to the movies? Do they have a smartphone?

MANY people claim they can't afford insurance, when in reality the problem is they have screwed up priorities.

Your priorities should be water, food, shelter, HEALTH INSURANCE. If your priorities are ANYTHING other than those 4 things FIRST and foremost... then you CAN afford health insurance... you simply choose not to.

The VAST majority of those people who responded saying they couldn't afford healthcare most likely COULD afford healthcare, but they're too busy buying other (*)(*)(*)(*) that they feel they're entitled to, to be able to afford it.

And if they're buying smartphones and getting their hair and nails did and then crying about how they can't afford health insurance and how I need to provide it for them... they can go (*)(*)(*)(*) themselves.

Now if your priorities are water, food, shelter, health insurance and you STILL can't afford it... then perhaps you would make a good case for needing assistance... that is of course if you're not just sitting on your ass at home doing nothing because you just don't want to go to work.

    Facts?

How do you know what the premiums are going to be in the exchanges. You're in Oregon, where the exchange isn't even working yet!

BTW, my own experience was exactly the opposite of what you claim. I got my wife insured through a "high risk" exchange here in Maryland for 1/3 of what any of the private firms would quote us.

    And that is a fact.

I'd probably feel worse for you if you didn't admit to discriminating against people because they smoke.

That being said... the Obamacare plans suck balls.

You should spend more time thanking others for helping you pick up the tab for your wifes healthcare.

Oh yes, how wonderful it would be to have to beg some bureaucrat to allow you to recieve medical treatment.

He can pull out his little cost benefit chart while your life or well being lay in balance and decide if you are worth it.

    That's how group insurance works.

    - - - Updated - - -

You should be used to it.

You've been doing it for years, now.

The only difference is that you can fire the politician who didn't hold the bureaucrat accountable.

If your insurance company bureaucrat says no to you, you're done.

Evidently you prefer it that way.

Obamacare is far better than the abomination that was in effect before.
We still need to move to the single payer system, but the ACA is vastly better than what was available before.

Yes, well, we know how group insurance works when it's strictly voluntary.

1/3 of the nation either can't get insurance or can't afford it. The rest are largely prisoners of their employer's decisions

Putting everyone in one group, as single payer systems do, is the main reason that everyone else in the world pays half as much for health insurance as you do.

Hmm, why is it it awful, inquiring minds want to know. It is a marvel in our own time, all Americans will finally be getting health care, except for red states that is. Rates going down. Cons can keep their heads buried in the sand while the world marches past them!!! LMAO!! Goodbye in 2014!!!

lol, they are not intelligent enough to figure that out. There were most likely cave men dragging their club across a rock cave floor and drooling as they went, who have more intelligence than most of these cons. LMAO!!:clapping:

Paranoia strikes again at PF. Delusions led by illusions of sugar plum fairies dance in cons heads. I should do a survey to find out how many cons still sleep trembling under their bed as left overs of the cold war bomb. At least the pharmacy sells them lots of pills to keep teir industry fueled!

I use to surf the west coast & hawaii, a Hobie board fan. I get 100% VA care, finest medical care in the World, and I hope some day all Americans can enjoy what I have and extend their lifespan, and that of their grandchildren live births for survival. These cons talk chit, and when it gets down to them personally, then they start singing a different tune. The term shouldn't have ever been bill-chitter, it should have been Con-chitter!!!

This is America, no one is supposed to be allowed to "put" someone else in some group they don't want to be a part of. That is tyranny. Stripping my freedoms and rights away "for the greater good."

What the hell happened to you people?

United Health Care, if you want to know. Not that it's relevant. I'm in Maryland and this experience reflects that of our state exchange. You're in another state.

I noticed that you dodged my rebuttal completely, which I expected. You gave yourself away with your claims about maternity care etc. That's right off the talk radio talking points.

    - - - Updated - - -

What? You question doesn't make any sense.

Thanks for the insurance company name. Second I think you have me confused with someone else on the maternity thing.

And the answer to the what was I talking about on the other post, individual insurance plans, they are subsidized and the fact that they are subsidized means money is coming from somewhere else to assist with the affordable premium. And who pays for that subsidy, we all do. Insurance hasn't gotten cheaper, they just found a way to have someone else pay for the premium.
