Masks help to protect from infections but they also help to spread infection.

One of the more puzzling aspects of the novel coronavirus is just how many organ systems are impacted through the course of the disease. We've heard about the heart, lungs and respiratory symptoms, but a growing mystery is its impact on the nervous system.

A report in April suggested more than a third of 214 Covid-19 patients studied experienced neurological complications ranging from loss of smell to stroke.

The virus can lead to neurological complications like delirium, brain inflammation, stroke and nerve damage. In a University College London study published earlier this month, 10 out of 43 patients had "temporary brain dysfunction" and delirium, while 12 had brain inflammation, eight had strokes and eight had nerve damage.

Another paper published last month in The Lancet Psychiatry looked at 153 patients in the UK and found even those younger than 60 could have psychosis, depression or strokes.

How this virus damages the brain and nerves still isn't totally clear. But as two physicians dedicated to the study of the nervous system, we wanted to find some answers.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta has been a practicing neurosurgeon for the last 20 years and has always been amazed at the remarkable ways the brain is protected by the body. A hard shell of bone, a bath of clear fluid and a blood brain barrier, which creates checkpoints before certain molecules are even allowed to enter. It is our most important organ and more impervious than most. And, yet this virus is still able to sneak into the central nervous system.

Well said. I've been mentioning en passant the brain injuries but not with the details you've provided. Thanks. Yes, this is a nasty disease that shouldn't be minimized or dismissed, even for younger people.

Like I said, maskless, people would spread even more infection.

    We do not know that.
I did not see the research on it.
The research is selective and politically charged, similar to any kind of politicized progressive "science".

OK then do the research yourself.

You have a point about some of the research; I don't doubt that science has unfortunately been contaminated by spurious agendas, in some cases. We just had the blatant example of a malicious and fraudulent study against HCQ somehow making it through the peer-review process in one of the top five most prestigious medical journals in the world (The Lancet). Fortunately other scientists were able to spot the discrepancies in that study and angrily complained to The Lancet, and the journal to their credit did recall the fraudulent study within the week and apologized. I'm sure the two idiotic peer-reviewers who gave the thumbs up to that fake study will never peer-review a study for The Lancet again, and the Lancet's chief editor, if he could get away with murder, would have loved to boil the two peer-reviewers in hot oil.

Now, the fact that these cases do exist, shouldn't put ALL studies under suspicion. That would be the equivalent of saying to a Florida resident who has never been to South Dakota: "Someone robbed a bank in South Dakota and was caught. This certainly means that YOU are also a bank robber!" I mean, studies that had strictly nothing to do with the fraudulent one, done by different people from different countries, now must be fake too because the Lancet one was fake???

So, let's look at the research that *I've* posted here, in other posts of mine, showing the large meta-analysis on how masks, distancing, and eye protection affect the transmission of coronaviruses (it's much better to only look at studies done with coronaviruses, which are smaller than the influenza virus; they have a diameter of only 0.1 micron so conclusions about the much larger influenza virus and the much much larger bacteria won't apply well to coronaviruses).

So, the research I've posted mostly precedes the SARS-CoV-2 era and was done during the MERS and the first SARS era (which are also caused by coronaviruses) therefore it would be extremely bizarre to consider that these papers published years ago before this crisis even existed, would be somehow tainted by the political agendas that have unfortunately been associated with the current crisis.

Again, because there are people who are bank robbers, it doesn't mean that all people are bank robbers.

No one is questioning that mask protects from viruses in some way.
I was talking about dirty masks, that accumulate viruses on the surface and as a result help to disseminate those viruses.
That is especially true for small coronavirus that penetrates through numerous layers of the mask tissue very quickly

Why are you wearing a dirty mask?

You still seem to be under the impression that the mask is to keep the virus from getting in. No. It's to prevent your water droplets from travelling 30 feet. It slows them so they will only travel about six feet.

I know it, and I hope you do too.
For a third day in a row, Florida has broken its single-day record of COVID-19 deaths, adding another 253 residents to the toll.

The state also reported 9,956 new cases of coronavirus in Florida.

Yes we have the research, and your claim shows nothing like that.

What is particularly funny is that some of the places tgat are doing well aren't "obsessed with masks" because there are countries that just DO the masks without needing laws, constant legal harassment, and that some countries are working together in these issues and consider it insanity to "claim to the Right to infect the public" from the whacko claims that 500,000 dead are "fake" or the "flu".

A Florida man who tested positive for COVID-19 and was busted along with his wife in Key West for allegedly violating a quarantine order insisted Friday he was just walking their dog and not trying to endanger anyone.

“I didn’t do anything,” 24-year-old Freire Interian told The Associated Press. “I was just walking my dog. It’s not as if I left the house to go shopping.”

Interian spoke out as the coronavirus continued to cut a deadly swath through Florida with the state breaking its daily death record for the fourth day in a down with 257 new fatalities, according to the latest NBC News tally.

It looks like that the rest of the Major League Baseball may get canceled where Major League Baseball postponed Friday’s Cardinals-Brewers game at Miller Park due to two positive tests for COVID-19. The game, which was to be Milwaukee’s home opener, is scheduled to be made up as part of a doubleheader on Sunday.

The two positives, both from Cardinals players, stemmed from testing on Wednesday prior to the finale of the club’s two-game series at Minnesota. The Cardinals said in a statement that they learned of the results late Thursday and instructed players and staff to self-isolate in their Milwaukee hotel rooms until further notice. The team did not leave its hotel for Miller Park on Friday.

The Cardinals and Brewers are scheduled to play at 6:10 p.m. Central Daylight Time on Saturday, with the doubleheader set to begin at 1:10 p.m. Central Daylight Time on Sunday. Both games in the doubleheader will be seven innings.

"It’s obviously not ideal," Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun said. "We would love to be playing today, but we think the most important thing is completing the season, so it certainly feels like the most prudent decision to not play today. We don’t know what that means for the rest of this weekend yet, but as we’ve done from the beginning, we can only continue to take it day to day and see how things play out."

The Blue Jays' 2020 schedule was hit with another change on Thursday as their weekend series against the Phillies has been postponed. "Out of an abundance of caution, the Philadelphia Phillies’ three-game weekend series with the Toronto Blue Jays, scheduled for Saturday, August 1st and Sunday, August 2nd at Citizens Bank Park, has been postponed," Major League Baseball announced in a statement. "Major League Baseball will coordinate with health experts and the Major League Baseball Players Association in planning for the Phillies’ resumption of play, and will provide further scheduling updates as necessary."

A study has shown that wearing a face covering or mask is the most effective way to limit the person-to-person spread of coronavirus, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that everyone should wear them when around other people in public.

Nobody has written or called me in 32 minutes. Has c-19 killed every human being? OMG I’m the last person on the planet according to the doom sayers!! I’m devoting myself to my diaries in the vain hope that the alien overseers can translate my words to an intergalactic audience. That way I can live on in a way. Get a grip folks. You will be fine!!

They don't care. Muh freedom. The weird part is, the less we have control of this come November, the worse Trump's chances. You'd THINK they'd be doing everything to ensure we have this thing contained. They won't even do it to help get their guy elected.

    Stunning.

We'll be riding this wave through Spring, at this point.

"We were told . . ." By whom?
    By so called "progressives"?
You have to deserve public trust first before people do what you told them to do.
Your party promote criminal riots, racial and gender wars, illegal immigration, pederasty and all other thing that general public hate.
Now you are complaining that people do not trust the government.

Doctors & scientists around the world. People who spend years in school studying the scientific method and how the body works, how infectious diseases work, etc.

Most of those doctors and scientists are the progressive party.
Like I said you have to deserve trust first.
Otherwise people think that you just want
Let’s make sure this crisis doesn’t go to waste (Rahm Emanuel)
in order to promote "progressive" insanity.
