Are you prepared to support a commission to study why so many Americans are dead from covid compared to Canada? Don't think so given your short lecture on preexisting conditions, as if Canadians don't have heart disease, diabetes, etc.

Why 540,000 Americans have died of covid when we would have only lost 200,000 if our death rate per 100,000 was comparable to the rate in Canada.

So if we find someone to blame it will all go away? No, it won't. We will have this every year just like we have the flu, common colds and even the original SARS infections. We can live with this disease and will even get better at it over time. What we really need to get better at is living with each other. I'd support a commission for that.

If they are spread out this would be one factor. Another is what is recorded as a Covid death. Which is an issue we have in the UK. Where anyone you died within 28 days of testing positive is recorded as a Covid death, whereas in France it has to be the main contributor to death.

The best way of comparing Covid deaths is to look at how average death rates for the country have increased.

To clarify my position, I think Americas Covid death rate is appalling, I'm just interested is how you accurately compare.
That said. This chart clearly shows excess deaths are far higher in America than Canada. And this figure allows for all normal circumstantial differences between the two countries. Except things that might be directly effected by covid, such as an aging population. (Which incidentally is why Italy and the UK look worse)

 

We can conclude, I believe, you're not interested in an explanation of why so many more Americans died than perhaps should have.

I voted against Trump twice, but don't blame him. If you do want to make him responsible, you have to show a significantly higher rate if infection among Republicans to have a point.
