    https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...anding-says-report-leaked-wh-warning-n1236866

Before anyone shoots the messenger, this comes from... a White House report. NBC merely diffused it.

So, wasn't it predictable? I remember when Georgia prematurely opened up, even Trump said it was premature. Georgia's governor kept being bold and kept touting how the numbers remained low after the reopening, ignoring what everybody with an ounce of common sense said, that effects are always delayed since it takes a while for people to get infected, then a while for them to get diagnosed, then a while for them to die (for those who do die).

Now, we're seeing the result. Huge surge, 5th worst state now. And now the governor is slowly backtracking... One doesn't sense his boisterous claims any more. He is now urging citizens to wear masks, partially allowing some mask mandates, etc.

I mean, if not tragic, these would be slightly entertaining... l often say, the virus always finds a way to defeat the deniers. Just give the virus enough time, just give the virus enough favorable conditions for spread, and spread it will. QED.

The argument of deniers against epidemiological control measures is always economic. What they don't realize is that there isn't anything worse for an economy than an out-of-control outbreak of a dangerous disease. That creates fear and insecurity among the population, low consumer confidence, low consumer spending, and fear of frequenting the very businesses people want to reopen.

No, I'm not advocating for prolonged lockdowns... this ship has sailed. But I'm just saying, instead of going by the very Trump Administration's guidelines for progressive reopening, Georgia went ahead at full speed, and now we're seeing the predictable result.

    Good job, Governor Kemp. :disbelief:

Apparently, there are some people who have the OUTRAGEOUS view that viruses and mammals have co-existed for millions of years, and that human society rarely reacts in such a drastic way to what is essentially a bad flu.

These same dastardly types further take the view that the Democrat Party is yet AGAIN attempting to gain political advantage by creating fear and panic around this flu, and further obsessively attack Trump.

I mean come on - we ALL know the Democrats would NEVER do anything like that!

    In closing, I hope you...

Are you really reading this forum? There are plenty of deniers here, and we see them all the time on the news, too. Do you want me to do your homework for you and look them up? They are everywhere, including in Congress (like Louie Gohmert), on TV, etc.

    Here, you want one?

Well, I did part of your homework for you. You can carry on, if you want.

Georgia's numbers have gone up due to more aggressive testing. They were going to begin hugh school sports their next week. Cant have that! Remember, if you have had a bacterial infection in the last few years it will register a covid positive.

So much misinformation in there I dunno where to begin
Yes they are testing more but when you test more your average number of infections per test shouldn't be going up well it is in Georgia.
Sry bacterial tests dont spark positives. You might be thinking certain flu viruses could on the instant test to see if you have had covid 19. The tests they are doing is the nasal test which takes longer and is far far more reliable

In the mean time we can shut the USPS down!

What information are you seeking? Why do you want to know the identity of the deniers (there are several) or the aspects of this virus which they are denying (it is a constantly evolving and shifting set of facts they deny)?

There is a reason that Kemp has suffered one of the lowest approval rating declines of the entire country and it is because he not only chose to aggressively push the State into reopening despite all of the science and recommendations from health experts, but he also directly interevened and prevented local municipalities from attempting to enforce stricter controls like mask mandates.

For those interested in Georgia's numbers, you can see them here (gathered via Covidtracking.com):

Why does it matter? Presumably he just means the individuals, like @vman12 , who think this virus is a hoax that does not actually pose a serious threat and does not warrant pandemic control measures like mask mandates or shutting down non-essential businesses for a period of time.

Just wait for the virus to get to more of those 10.6 million people.
You can't talk about mortality for the non-infected.
But if you don't implement epidemiological controls, yes, then the virus does get to a lot of people. It's not rocket science.

Not when they're in the category of people who are extremely old and or extremely sick.

If that was 20 year olds, yeah.

70 year olds with heart disease, diabetes, and weigh 400 pounds? Not so much.

They're already dying at a rate of 8000 per day.

4700 deaths, in five months, in Georgia from one cause of death is a lot of deaths.
