From the left like Labor Secretary Robert Reich ( who wrote against Corporate hand outs in his book The Work of Nations ) to the Libertarian who be lives complete separation between government and business, corporate welfare is a hated by a lot of people. Pretty much hated by the left and the right.

Yet handouts to business in the form of tax deductions to out right subsidies continue. Goes to show just how corrupt American politics is when we have an issue that most people agree on and still nothing gets down.

I agree with Robert Reich that all that money is wasted. Give a corporation a money and they use it to expand business in India and outsource your job. Time to end Corporate Welfare.

A lot of people do not hold corporatism in high regard. Some ideologies envision society in a very organic manner and advocate the state and firms regularly collaborate with and support one another for the good of the nation, but that's not my sort of thing. Bleh.

The Supreme Court has declared that corporations are people with the right to donate to political campaigns, giving them to power to buy the government. They should have to pay the same tax rate as any other millionaire. It's the rich that have run up the $16 trillion national debt, and they should pay it off, instead of passing it on to future generations. That's the worst kind of child abuse. There are no poor in congress. But they ARE owned by the corporations. You know, the super rich, like Exxon, Raytheon, and the rest of the industrial military contractors.

Maybe we should take away the government's ability for social engineering through tax deduction and get rid of all tax deductions. It would greatly simplify the tax code, generate a lot more revenue and give more puerile a vested interest in government accountability.

In my opinion, artificial persons of wealth should be burdened with a simple social safety net that eliminates simple forms of poverty.

Agreed. But you must end welfare to people who absolutely don't need it either.

Unemployment insurance - gone. People should be smart enough to save up money in case they become unemployed. Just like corporations shouldn't be given tax credits and breaks...they should run on their own abilities

Social Security - should still exist, but it needs to be proportionate to the amount you put in and the amount you take out. For example,

If I make 20k a year and pay 5% in SS, that means I'm putting in $1000 per year. So I should be able to get $1000 per year when I retire adjusted for inflation.

If I make 200k a year and pay 5% in SS, that means I'm putting in $10k per year. So I should be able to get $10k per year when I retire adjusted for inflation.

Of course I don't actually believe this is how it should be, but the point is you're making an idiotic point. Corporations aren't people, but people own corporations. So if they make money from those corporations then they can get "corporate welfare" from those corporations just as much as people who invest in social security should get money for investing in it.

    Thx

We should be actually solving simple poverty instead of merely paying for a War on Poverty for around a generation.

Now, what are the mechanisms being used to keep the strangle hold on power, if the American people are united on this issue?

My argument for why corporate welfare should be ended, is that this is the counter argument.

I believe money should not be a "corrupting" influence under any form of capitalism.

Tell it to the welfare queens. They are represented by people who defend their outrageous benefits so they can get re-elected. I consider that very corrupt.

Indulging the moral turpitude of bearing false witness to our own laws is worse, from any office of public trust under the United States.

    Nothing further to say.

Your response came across as really lacking any substance or point to make.

It read like a 2 year old throwing a tantrum, who can't explain what there problem is, because they can't catch their breath from crying so hard!

Keyboard revolutionary/avid reader of obscure conspiracy sites on the internet lol...

I'd respect your opinion more if you put on the Guy Fawkes mask and started throwing daggers at the bad guys lol

Do you have the balls to blow up parliament or are you just going to talk about doing so on the internet

All you did was call me a 2-year old and post a funny cartoon. At least I wrote something relevant to the topic lol

Herp derp I'm an internet revolutionary. You have no idea who you're dealing with. Your post doesn't even merit a response. I have spent 10 years living underground practicing my sword-fighting abilities and reading endless books on philosophy. It's only a matter of time before I surface with my daggers to bring chaos to the elite, starting with the guys who run Goldman Sachs lol

No need to blow up anything. We create a culture of engagement as things continue to decline. When we threaten the power of the power brokers, they will flip out and expose themselves.

At that point, they will retreat, or the American people will engage in Asymmetrical warfare.

Meanwhile, in reality land, this car accident of a post, is what I said read like a 2 year old throwing a tantrum. Instead of trying to re-phrase into a coherent point, you are choosing to continue to throw a tantrum!

I think the first time you actually threaten the power of the elite you'll be really disappointed. I remember some picture of the OWSers rioting around Wall Street and some of them had your little mask on lol. The people living on the upper floors poured win down on them and had a hoot of a time doing it lol
