    Dear all,

I am currently studying journalism and am working on an assignment as part of my course where I have to research and write about a specific topic.

I've decided to write about Richard Nixon's Watergate story and the subsequent interviews held by Sir David Frost in 1977.

I'm keen to learn what the American people's views are in relation to the revelation by Frost and if you think history may repeat itself once the new President is sworn in. Do you believe corruption exists within high level politics and if so, what have you got to substantiate your thoughts?

This is not a Pro Clinton or Trump debate - it is whether you believe a candidate may consider undertaking an action that would be described as corruptive. If they say they did it for the good of the country because they are the President then do you believe this is the correct course of action? Or do you think there should be no corruption at all and that all people in politics should be held accountable for their actions no matter what position they hold?

At the time of writing this forum post and conducting my research, no editor of a publication either in print or online has been approached to run this as a story. However, this does not mean to say that it may not run in the future, so please be aware that your comments may be used as part of my article which could go public. The comments or views expressed may be used as part of my assignment. If anyone would like to make a personal one on one contribution then I would be delighted to converse by email.

Thank you in advance for your comments or replies.

    TJ

I saw the Frost interviews, great stuff really.

As for today's politics, & political leadership, yes, I do believe that the system, as well as a good portion of our representatives are now, or shortly after being elected, corrupted.

Who do I base my opinion?

    Through observation.

I think it's been blantently obvious for at least a handful of decades, through the revelation of any number of publicized scandals, that this is so. Today of course, the inter webs allow for the 24 hour tracking of actual, as well as fabricated scandals, but the constent, that which remains true, is that politics & most politicians are corrupt.

Hillary Clinton, Barry Soweto, and Loretta Lynch come to mind.

I certainly can't tell you much but I do feel confident that history will indeed repeat itself...It will probably come wrapped in a different container but the contents will be the same...

    Journalism.
May as well be a Communications major because modern journalism is just reading someone else "news". Gone are the days of the networks having Independent News Departments like CBS did. Gone are the days of the Woodward & Bernstein Washington Post.

    How bad?
So bad they had me prepared for a Hillary Victory!
CBS=NBC=ABC=Fox=PBS=BBC, etc. who practice common "choice of story" propaganda
Stories not covered I use to discover on Al Jazeera - sadly no more, and RT.
And a story not covered in the West and discovered on RT can be verified, online.
Journalism, what passes for it, is That Bad! No honor. No ethics. No investigations.
    Just 1984 News repeaters
Remember, the 70's still had journalism. And if you are studying the David Frost Watergate interviews, you might do better also studying the Dick Cavett Watergate interviews.
Somehow, this man's show was in the right place at the right time with enough individual interviews to create a powerful saga. I most enjoyed his interview with Senator Sam Ervin. Chairman of the Committee. I hope American Experience does a 1 hour on his career. From southern Democrat to Dixiecrat to rising to the occasion. Harvard educated fostering his down home, country boy image.

In comparison, David Frost's interviews were lame and obedient to the guest being interviewed. A comparison of Cavett and Frost will reveal that. ttfn
