I live at Park Knoll Co-operative (Park Knoll Owners Inc) in West Harrison, NY 10604. I am terribly upset with the ongoing trapping of stray cats, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and other wildlife. Traps are set on the property, along with what I believe to be poison food. The Co-op hired the trapper, (ACE Trapping, Port Chester, NY) who does not even regularly check the traps, which is the least of his misdeeds. We saw an animal that had rotted in one of these traps last fall. I have gone through many routes to do away with this horrific practice from notifying the DEC, the humane law enforcement officer, feral cat rescue groups, and PETA, who were helpful, but so far, not able to stop this practice. The local police don't do much to help either. I called them to notify them that an animal was in a trap and the officer said that they didn't have anyone in animal control! Unfortunately, PETA has informed me that ACE Trapping has a license to trap in New York State, so it is legal. I remember last summer one evening in August, I heard cats crying all night outside my window in the brush between the co-op buildings. I went down the stairs the next day to find one kitten crying endlessly and another adult cat lying in the brush hissing. Then three weeks later, I followed the smell of decaying flesh to find the body of a dead adult cat. So, although I cannot prove anything, I suspect that they were poisoned. And this happens every summer for the last two years. It needs to stop.

So there is a real problem here for the poor animals and I am asking for advice. Please view the link below, where these traps are located at the southwestern end of 35 Columbus Ave, West Harrison, NY 10604 (http://www.lifeguardingjobs.com/company/Park-Knoll-Owners). Since I couldn't post pictures here, I made a short slide show because a picture is worth a thousand words.

Stray cats are a plague to real wildlife. If you truly want to help living things, go out and get every female cat neutered.

I had a friend in Dammam who did that. .. an American from Texas. He paid for the capture and neutering of several hundred female cats.. Then they were released back to where they had lived as ferals.

Feral cats should be euthanized. They not only kill our song birds, but they will also kill chickens. Raccoons and opossums carry deadly diseases that are transferable to humans and pets..They also carry fleas which can infest the area for a long time to come. They may also have rabies. Raccoons will attack dogs.

This trapper should monitor his traps better and make sure that every such animal in them is killed.
