A simple water pipe burst led to these beautiful scenes painted by French Count, Paul Amédée de Piellat in 1896. Besides the murals he painted crusaders in full regalia from decades past and also the families' names of the Crusaders. They were lost after the Turks took control in World War I and painted over them in black paint.

Wow. History and memory of it is fascinating. I've always found the Crusading Orders fascinating.

Thank you Troianii - it is fascinating. The beauty they created back then was such a treasure, and the way it was found is just amazing.
