    Now we're really getting somewhere.
    The build up to Palestinian request for United nations recognition;

Of course, every European nation which recognizes Palestine brings closer the time when the EU must recognize Palestine en bloc . This will leave the US isolated with scant few minor States acting as scaffolding for a failed policy of blanket support for Israel- a State which slid rapidly towards fascism due to successive extremist governments.
America's rejection of blanket support for Israel is now well overdue. Palestine has the weight of international law on its side. Israel is an international pariah, acting illegally and flaunting its own criminality. Americans should not permit their corrupt politicians to tie them to foreign fascism on the strength of a long-past war in Europe. Support the Palestinian State. Kick your Congressman's ass.

Abbas is discredited. Abbas was discredited even before he was discredited by Wikileaks and even before he was discredited by the al-Jazeera Palestine Papers. Absolutely nobody , except you, apparently, quotes Abbas as a legitimate authority. Abbas is museum material, taxidermy section.

This is fascinating to watch and intriguing to consider what America's eventual move might be when a majority of nations voice their recognition of Palestine.
Will America continue along an isolationist path and maintain stubborn support, or will she fence-sit, as she is now doing with Egypt, until she figures out which way the wind blows? I sort of favour the latter. Much is said and written about the need for a Middle East ally, which then begs the question 'why?' What threat is there to the west from that region? The answer is pretty clear; America doesn't need an 'ally' so much as it needs a proxy outpost to maintain its hegemonic global positioning.

Clearly those nations who have voiced their support for Palestine are not stupid, nor are they anti-Semites (before our Hasbara community butts-in), and have thought this through.

BANGKOK, August 22, 2011 (WAFA) - Thailand will recognize a Palestinian state at the United Nations when it comes up for a vote in September, Monday said Nabil Shaath, member of Fatah Central Committee. Shaath discussed in a meeting with the Thai foreign minister, Pisamo Fagan, Palestinian plans to seek UN recognition of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, urging it support the Palestinian bid.

The Fatah official, on a mission by President Mahmoud Abbas to get as many world support for the Palestinian state as possible, will also visit India and Russia to discuss and coordinate political stances regarding the Palestinians’ September plans.

only those with intersts in the area thought this throu the rest just dont care, they had enough of the middle east so why not vote to change the status que and see what happens?

Its a fact to achive a real country you need to work with Israel

The only country which didn't think this through is the US, which made a decision before giving the matter some thought.

Sorry but 'working with Israel' means 'our way or the highway'. Israel will never change its arrogant and intransigent stance over Palestine. Working with Israel, to the Israeli government, means aggreeing 100% with its policies and nothing less.
Experience and precedent have shown us.

Hamas will stop lobbing homemade rockets into the occupied territories. You can't discount cause and effect....

The oil producing states are poised to rapidly develop infrastructure in Palestine and create jobs... They do, after all, have the money and expertise to do so.

It will be recorded in history as another one of the days that the world sees in full colour the absolute stupidity and arrogance and self destruction of the USA.

Today, in the national press, I saw the US of AIPAC position described as ' hypocrisy clothed in pragmatism '. That was very kind, I thought.

The US, one of the leaders of democracy, is acting against the interests of the global population, all because it doesn't want to lift a finger against Israeli illegal settlements. This is very unlogical. Any thinking that the US government has done on the matter is heavily bigoted and unreasonable. I mean, it is fighting against a non-violent effort to improve the situation for a democratic voting population. This is just retarded. It doesn't make any sense. The US should be supporting the people by supporting both nations, instead of unconditionally rejecting a national recognition supported by the global majority.

It is good that the US will be finally abandoning its political situation in the middle east, allowing Arab States to fill the vacuum.
