Democrats have had it with God and remove God from taking the oath.

The Democratic party goes Marxist to the max and sends God to the back of the bus.
They might have even kicked God off the bus !!!

No, actually, not having to take a religious oath in court is secularism. You should be free to take a secular oath if you want.

Don't confuse this with the destruction of Christian heritage, which is Marxism.

Conservatives really need to understand the scope and limits of secularism so that they can effectively oppose progressive theocrats without becoming Christian theocrats themselves.

Removing God from the oath is saying God no longer has any power in government and the only thing one has to fear are 49 FBI SWAT agents armed with machine guns at 5 am in the morning.

You are talking to people who claim a non-christian store owning choosing not to put up Christmas decorations attacks their religious freedom...

GOD HAS NO POWER IN THE COURT. Religious dogma is not something that a secular court can use to make a decision.

And there has always been a right to refuse to swear to god in courts. This is the purpose of affirming instead of swearing.

"God" should not be a part of the people's business any more than should "Allah" or "Buddha" or any of the other myriad deities.

I've already pissed him off plenty. LOL. We don't need a deity in government when we've got a constitution that secures the rights of the people by limiting the authority of the state.

If “god” has power in government, this supposed god should have no problem showing up in front of Congress to testify.

Where is the power of “God” over the government found in the Constitution?

Yes. God has no place in government. That's called secularism. You know, Enlightenment stuff. Not Marxism.

Odd, the word "God" was just fine since the founding of this country. Why do you suspect it is just now becoming no longer viable?

This is only a PROPOSED amendment ONLY to the oath administered to those testifying before a panel put together by the BIPARTISAN House Committee on Natural Resources. Understandably, Liz Cheney is the only one reporting this, and she made the unconfirmed generalization that it had universal Democratic backing with no Republican support; she did not even disclose who proposed the amendment. What will she say about Republicans on the committee who vote FOR the amendment or Democrats who vote AGAINST it.

The PROPOSAL is to change the words "so help me God" to "under penalty of law", which is understandable, considering the number of atheists and agnostics in our country who would consider the phrase nonbinding.

It is interesting to note that the words "so help me God" are not found in the Presidential oath of office.

I am a devout Christian, and I do not consider the proposal IN ANY WAY to be a challenge to my faith; in fact, many Christians believe that such oaths are "taking the Lord's name in vain", even when telling the truth.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/So_help_me_God

Quote : The phrase "So help me God" is prescribed in oaths as early as the Judiciary Act of 1789, for U.S. officers other than the President. The act makes the semantic distinction between an affirmation and an oath. The oath, religious in essence, includes the phrase "so help me God" and " swear". The affirmation uses " affirm". Both serve the same purpose and are described as one (i.e. "... solemnly swear, or affirm, that ...") .

I'm not saying anything that hasn't been said and put in law over 200 years ago. Religious oaths have always been optional in America, and can be replaced by a secular affirmation instead.

Things like "In God we trust" are actually way more recent than that.

It just means that those in government should have to answer to God ? :rock_slayer:

WHY GOD IS IN THE DECLARATION BUT NOT THE CONSTITUTION

    https://allthingsliberty.com/2016/02/why-god-is-in-the-declaration-but-not-the-constitution/

Since I don't like talking about religion except the sedo relion of Islam which is a cult for pedophiles...end of discussion for me.
But I'll dabble in the Law of Nature aka Natural Law that the Constitution is heavily based upon than Common Law.

Where does the Constitution say that the government answers to God?

It was the liberals who got all bent out of shape during the late 1970's with "Corps...Country...God" and the Democrats in Congress forced the U.S.Marine Corps to adopt "God...Country...Corps."

But we who served in the "Old Corps" still live by "Corps...Country...God."

I had a DI in bootcamp who used the Lord's name in vain almost every minute at MCRDSD.

But exactly what did one have to actually say to use the Lord's name in vain ?

When asking God to damn someone is that using the Lord's name in vain ?

I would say using "piss" and God together might qualify.

Now I understand. This isn't really about your concern for God it is about how much you hate Democrats.
