The Democrats, who have secured a majority in the House of Representatives, have recently turned the House into a Gun Control Zone.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has gotten a rule passed that members of congress are no longer allowed to carry a concealed gun with them in the House. Metal detectors have now been set up at all the entry points through which all members of Congress are required to be screened through.

Apparently the Democrats believe they can no longer trust Republican members of Congress after the January 6 "insurrection" (mob that stormed the capitol building).

Fines have been put in place. $5000 for first violations and $10,000 for second ones. The fines are for entering Congress without passing through the metal detector screening area.

So apparently capitol police guarding the inside of the House can be trusted with guns to protect everyone, but not members of Congress?

Members of Congress have been known to beat each other nearly to death. I grant you, not recently. If the House feel that they need to be treated like schoolchildren with armed guards and metal detectors, let them.

If we can't trust our elected representatives, who then exactly can we trust??

That's the problem with those who believe more government control is the answer to every problem. Who's going to watch the watchers? Who's going to police the police?
Ultimately there has to be someone at the top, and who are you going to put in charge over them to make sure they don't misuse their position?

Except it's not us trusting them is it? It's them trusting each other.

Ultimately that would be the responsibility of POTUS. He has the tools and authority to deal with this crap.

"I find it degrading": Some House Democrats say they're tired of passing through metal detectors every time they vote (msn.com)

For 9 months, every House member has had to pass through metal detectors before entering the chamber.
But now, even some Democrats have grown tired of their presence.

"I find it degrading that as a member of Congress I have to go through metal detectors," said Rep. Ritchie Torres, a freshman Democrat from New York. "Even when I use the bathroom, I have to go through metal detectors. I think it impedes the business of Congress. It takes us much longer to enter the House floor, and I see no reason for it."

"I think they were an important psychological reassurance after the traumatic events of January 6th," said Rep. Tom Malinowski of New Jersey. "But as a practical security measure they don't make a lot of sense to me, given what the actual threats are. I think it would be good for the comity of the place to focus on real security, not optical security."

But most other Democrats remained supportive of the increased screening measures.
"I think it's a good thing," said Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez, another freshman Democrat. "It's not that big of a nuisance, you end up having lovely conversations with people you're in line with."

Pelosi is projecting, knowing what she would do if she lost her temper and was armed.

That is if we had one, the current resident of the Whitehouse is nothing more than a tool without a clue.
