Democrats launch campaign to get 'rush limbaugh off the air'

Obviously the whiny progressives signing the petition care. They care a lot.

 

Yea, of course they do. Probably the same type of folks who watch MSNBC all day. It's sad that political discourse in this country has essentially turned into a war between cable channels.

 

The motivation behind this move is that progressives want to shut down opposing viewpoints. Even though they own almost every mainstream media outlet, they can't stand that they don't have a monopoly yet. That's why they are trying to pick off conservative channels, hosts, newspapers, etc, one at a time. They can claim all day long that it's because Rush is homophobic, sexist, racist, (insert left-wing buzz phrase here), but the source is simply to try and control their opponents ability to speak. They won't be admit it or be honest about it.

What many conservatives don't understand about their enemy is that they are the same people that slaughtered tens of millions during the Bolshevik revolution. The same ideology is at play. Conservatives need to understand this to truly understand who their enemy is. They'll take away your ability to speak openly in society. They'll take away your right to defend your family. They'll leave you helpless in their society.

Yeah, that pretty much sums up the attitude of the left. You have the right to speak freely so long as what you say meets "progressive" guidelines. You can say anything you want on a college campus unless it's about God or the right to life. You can call Sarah Palin a whore and a slut but saying Obama is incompetent is "racism".

Yes the OP cited the DCCC, you in response cite some nutjobs facebook blog and acted like it represents the right. In fact it does not. As I told you Rush even defended Maher's free speech. Sorry I didn't think I needed to caveat the question, do you have any real examples of organized republican groups trying to remove free speech?
Should we poll conservative here on PF and see how many feel removal of free speech is ok? We already know lefties do because they say so.

That is true, but it 's also obvious that his best days are well behind him.

I had not expected the Sandra Fluke thing to have much impact. After all, Limbaugh's core audience thinks misogyny is manly.

But sponsors did react, and Clear Channel was forced to do something it had never done before with Limbaugh, cut the price.

Even so, Limbaugh was forced to unbundle his program (Premier had previously used Limbugh's ratings as a way to force stations to take a bundle of other talkers including Medved, Levin and Hannity).

He was also forced to alternative stations in his biggest media market, and his ratings there collapsed.

I tuned into his program a few weeks ago and was shocked to hear that nearly half his advertising was public service announcments.

Limbaugh's contract comes up in 2016, and the big payday of the past is clearly a thing of the past.

Limbaugh will be on the air for a long time. I suspect he'll eventually cobble together a network of small town red state stations or go online.

But I am also certain that a decade from now there will be thousands of right wingers who were glued to him every day around insisting that they either never listened or didn't pay Limbaugh that much attention,.
