    While there would certainly be a huge amount of hypocrisy in Republicans voting on a Supreme Court Justice before the election, the notion of stacking the court in response is not in any way even remotely close to being a proportional response or a wise move.

    If Democrats were to stack the court to give them an advantage, it is an absolute certainty that Republicans would in turn re stack the court when they got back into power, and then Democrats would in turn... It would literally never end, and the final result would be that our justice system would have absolutely zero credibility and perhaps even collapse due to the ensuing instability of Constitutional interpretation. Precedents would be set and overturned continually. Our entire system of justice would be meaningless. I personally cannot think of a worse course for our nation. Everybody would lose. It may feel good to make the threat, but actually doing so would be an unmitigated disaster for our entire nation.

    It's gonna happen, Trump will name his pick, the Senate will have hearings, and the outcome will be a new SCOTUS justice, of course depending on several less than enthusiastic Republicans (the USUAL, as usual). For those in such pain over this turn of events I suggest giving the "shot" cure a try; take one shot of liquor by mouth every five minutes until no pain is felt, repeat when necessary.
