Eight lane? Is that all it is today?

I've been through some main residential streets in the newer developments (Irvine) that were 8 lanes.

Eight lane freeways were more the thing 15 years ago maybe.

Business Exodus From California Is More Troubling Than Sanctuary Policies

[IMG]California is facing a bigger issue than its tussle with the Federal government over sanctuary cities. According to a November report from the U.S Census Bureau, the Golden State has had 142,932 more residents exit to live in other states than people arriving from other states. This domestic outmigration was the second largest outflow in the U.S. behind New York and New Jersey. It was up 11 percent (13,699 net departures) compared to 2015.

The state’s net outmigration has been continuing for over two decades, yet the state’s population continues to grow owing to foreign immigration. According to census numbers some 108,301, or 0.3 percent immigrants came to California as new residents from other countries. That and more births than deaths contributed to limited population growth. To everyone else the state has become a hard sell to people who presently live elsewhere in the country.

What is more serious is the number of California-based companies that have left or signaled their intention to leave the state. Last year marks the first anniversary of the announcement that Carl’s Jr., a California burger icon for more than six decades, was relocating its headquarters to Nashville. It’s a symbol for what’s become a stream of businesses that have quit California. What was once an almost quiet exodus of companies now looks more like a stampede.

Among the roll call of businesses abandoning California for more hospitable business environments includes Toyota which has left Torrance and will complete the move of its U.S. headquarters to Dallas in the coming month. Also having left for Dallas is Jacobs Engineering Group, $6.3 billion firm formerly based in Pasadena that has more than 230 offices across the world, employs 60,000 and generates $12 billion in annual revenue.

Nissan North America (left for Nashville a decade before Carl’s Jr. did), Jamba Juice (traded San Francisco for Frisco, Texas), Occidental Petroleum (prefers Houston over Westwood for its headquarters), Numira Biosciences (departed Irvine for Salt Lake City) and Omnitracs, a software firm (waved goodbye to San Diego and said hello to Dallas). Chevron moved 800 jobs from its Bay Area headquarters to Texas, and Waste Connections shifted more than 100 jobs to Texas from Folsom"

Californians Doing The Once-Unthinkable: Leaving California

"California: The Golden State has some big problems. Its taxes keep soaring, home prices are stratospheric, regulations are proliferating, and the quality of life continues to diminish. Now add what might be its most serious problem: People are leaving the state by the thousands."

I've seen sections with 10, and I think some of the latest expansions have 12.
And still the traffic can get very very bad.

In some of the 6-8 lane main streets running through residential areas (in the newer developments), the streets are so wide that often cars don't have time to get from one side of the road to the other in time to be able to turn left.
Then you might have to go through three or four different intersections before you're allowed to make a U-turn.

    Talk about nightmare.

California is the 18th fastest growing state in terms of population in the union.
California has the highest GDP - more than 50% MORE than the next highest state's GDP.

Wow - what else do you "think"?

Apparently, your thoughts are free of anything from Trump's "voter fraud commission".

    And for good reason!

Remember the person picked to lead that commission was the MAJOR proponent of this idea that the poor, poor right wing was being cheated by individual voters.

They were given amnesty. That is far cry from becoming a citizen. They can't apply for citizenship because they broke our laws to live here.

That is because there is no evidence of voter fraud. Trump's commission tried, but they found none.

Why? Because voter fraud is the dumbest crime a person can commit. If a person steals a car, they have car. If someone robs a bank, they have money. If someone votes illegally, what they get is still seriously in doubt. It is a crime without a reward. That's why people don't commit voter fraud.

The commission had no authority and the states refused to cooperate

So we are left wondering how much cheating the democrats are doing

Are you desperately hoping conservatives will buy your deceit?

This paper shows that, by 15 years later, at least a third of them who were granted amnesty went on to be granted citizenship:

You do realize they count illegals in the California census don't you? Productive tax paying Americans are leaving as fast as low skilled low education non English speaking Hispanics are moving in.

lol. The guy who ran the commission said he had all sorts of evidence.

But, in the end he shut it done because there was NOTHING.

The GOP assault on democracy going on right now is EXACTLY what Manafort and the Russians had planned to do were Trump to lose. The GOP simply dusted off that plan, and improved on their assault on Florida that prevented votes from being counted, allowing Bush to win.

The point here is that there is NO DOUBT that the GOP is assaulting democracy with its several methods of voter suppression and disenfranchisement.

Even now, the GOP is insisting that fully legal ballots in Florida NOT be counted!

And, you are arguing that is how they maintain a GDP that is more than 50% higher than that of the next highest state?
