With people already speculating about 2016, I figured it's an interesting discussion piece. Some names that have been dropped are: Andrew Cuomo, Governor of New York, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, and Martin O'Malley, Governor of Maryland.

So, Democrats, who do you like for 2016?

    *Conservatives need not reply.

Not needed. Obama will change the runs and will reign for many, many years.

I don't think you read the asterisk. Or even know what an asterisk is.

I think that Hilary's going to be president at some point. Probably right after Obama. Then again, there's a chance that we'll elect a republican after Obama just for the sake of not sticking with one party for too long.

    Dan Boren.

Love the guy. I don't agree with some of his positions, namely on Guantanamo, but he is fiscally conservative and he has a passion for pissing off people in both parties, definitely not afraid to take sides against his own party when he feels it is right.

I want to see political parties ended and presidents running as individuals

Biden/Clinton in 2016 (assuming we're all still here...which we won't actually be so, doesn't really matter anyway). The right wing Bush goofs have insured the world's demise.

    Biden will be too old.

Hillary is approaching that status as well.

I like Mark Warner, personally. He leans a little more conservative than a lot of candidates, but that's an asset for the general election.

If Biden or Hillary become president after the Obama failure I wont even know what to think anymore. I will earnestly consider leaving America. I'd like to see Rand Paul in 2016 or 2020. He's a good guy. I don't see any on the democrat side that I currently like.

I wouldn't say that. He represents Southern Democrats pretty well, and if you look at demographic trends, the future of electability is in the South.

Democrats can still currently win presidencies without most of the South, but that won't last much longer.

Warner is conservative on a key issue that resonates with both conservatives and Southern Democrats alike -- gun rights.

Well, the populous is running away from southern "conservatives" at top speed, in case you haven't noticed, and the conservative/Fox/southern religious right sect isn't faring too well either so, I don't see that group dictating anything to anybody. Kooks/guns/rednecks.....whatever. The terms are interchangable and considered all are loons by the majority, when you get right down to it.

The South is becoming more purple than red, but there are some conservative stances there that haven't changed -- one is guns.

The South also tends to still favor more business friendly policies even in areas where social policies have become more liberal.

I'd say the South is mostly becoming more Libertarian overall. Gay marriage is one of the few exceptions though.

Unfortunately, a lot of the South (and the rest of the country) is still very anti-gay marriage.

Great question. And I don't have a good answer.

Andrew Cuomo is probably the most attractive that I can think of.

Probably my ignorance, but the bench seems kind of thin. I think Hilary won't want the nomination by 2016, but maybe I will be wrong. I like Hilary, but I think the country is ready to not have either Clinton's or Bush's in office.

So you both think that our party should go with Centrists/Moderates in the next elections?

A party very rarely takes the white house three terms running. Clinton will never be president; she won't be able to win if nominated in 2016, and will be too old to run in 2020 or 2024.

And since the South is the poorest part of the nation and the poorest of the poor states, how would that be a good thing?

Yeah lets all be ignorant and just vote on party lines. Makes total sense. No need to educate yourself on the candidates! JUST CIRCLE THAT BIG D!

Way better choice than that big (R) regardless. Safe, easy, and always the correct choice when facing a right wing rapist (and you don't even have to dig deep to arrive at the correct conclusion).

The correct conclusion is you might as well not vote. Cause the richest most corrupt man will always win. Because the people like you are too ignorant to notice there is no REAL difference between that D and R.

It's the tip of the scale that comes into play. 2 choices...and 1 is a republican...and republicans are ALWAYS the worst possible choice...UNLESS YOU'RE FILTHY RICH (then...the inverse is applicable).

You're the kind of person that makes me think all hope is lost in America.
