Ron DeSantis' presidential campaign raises $8 million, explains why he isn't establishment

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis hauled in a record $8.2 million in the first 24 hours after launching his presidential campaign.

DeSantis was able to garner millions even though his presidential campaign announcement was blemished by temporary technical difficulties at the start of the Twitter Spaces event with Elon Musk, which had nearly 4 million people tune in.

DeSantis easily out-fundraised the past two presidents – who are currently the front-runners in the 2024 race...

... Never Back Down, the super PAC supporting DeSantis, expects to have an overall budget of at least $200 million – including $80 million transferred from an old DeSantis state political account.

I've just donated. The nomination is Trump's to lose. But if DeSantis can remain as disciplined as he's been so far, and doesn't rise to the typical Donnie Dou¢hebag smear & insult jive, I like his chances to engineer an upset.

Endless what ifs... I like actual news. The endless speculation and predictions between now and the election will drive me nuts. Not a fact in sight. And we won't have any facts until the day after the election. I guess its inevitable... endless... "he said"..."she said"... "here's what I think".... "here's what expert #7 says"... "here's what expert #11 says"... all worthless and changing... until the day after the election when we get the first real FACTS

    That's a nice haul!

It's either Ron or Don, whichever one wins will have our support.

Updated numbers: Nearly $9M in 24 hours for Ron II.

    DeSantis-Trump Primary

Organization: 'Within a day, the difference between communications teams from both camps was night and day. One is based on vitriol, mean tweets, and memes, while the other whips out the receipts of Trump-supporting DeSantis, ensuring the former cannot gaslight the other or the GOP base on the COVID lockdowns. DeSantis’ people were prepared for the initial salvos. The Trump team looks appallingly amateurish, and we don’t know who the finance director, the campaign manager, or the communications director is. It seems to be a bunch of flame war manufacturers who have been outmaneuvered at every turn.'

Trump is a Champion, DeSantis is a General

'The lack of quality operatives isn’t all Trump’s fault. The Democrat-run DOJ and the Deep State antics during his presidency, which led to bogus and politically biased legal actions against some of his closest aides and associates, was a clear sign to everyone: work for Trump and risk being slapped with spurious charges and face legal bills that would bankrupt anyone but a former billionaire real estate magnate. On top of that, you have progressives seeking out former Trump administration officials at their new places of employment and exposing them to get them fired. It’s a headache no one wants, but the left’s obsession with destroying this man knows no end. They know how to taint the water, and GOP strategists with families aren’t going to risk it when they’re not the face of the GOP.'

'to reach the finish line in the primary and general races, you need top-notch staffers who know how to run a national operation. Trump doesn’t have that yet. He has mountains of cash and a sizable lead in the polls. That could change on a dime.'

We haven't seen DeSantis on a debate stage, yet. We'll know more about his durability after that.

As long as DeSantis doesn't get in the gutter with Trump he'll do just fine. Trump has way too much experience in gutter politics to try to outshine him there.

DeSantis would "welcome a bill to abolish corrupt" IRS - do "something different.

Biden is expanding the Corrupt IRS.

Replace the corrupt monstrosity of the tax code with something flatter and fairer that doesn't require a massive corrupt agency to enforce.

"So, the answer's yes. I think the IRS is a corrupt organization and I think it's not a friend to the average citizen or taxpayer," DeSantis responded. "We need something totally different."

"I've supported all of the single rate proposals, I think they would be a huge improvement over the current system and I would be welcoming to take this tax system, chunk it out the window and do something that's more favorable to the average folks."

Says the 'Biden administration to expand the IRS with 87,000 new agents was an indication of disrespect. "Of all the things that have come out of Washington that have been outrageous, this has got to be pretty close to the top," DeSantis said at the time. "I think it was basically just the middle finger to the American public, that this is what they think of you."'

Especially while so many Biden's are bribed tax cheats.

'the new agents would be more out to target those with small businesses or those who work to make ends meet through ordinary, day-to-day jobs.'

"They are going to go after independent contractors, they’re going to go after small business people, they’re going to go after someone that may be driving an Uber or a handyman or all these things," DeSantis added at the time. "Why would they do that? Because you’re not going to be able to contend with the audit, so they’re going to crush a lot of people by doing that."

    TRUMP RAID

"The raid of MAL is another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies against the Regime’s political opponents, while people like Hunter Biden get treated with kid gloves. Now the Regime is getting another 87k IRS agents to wield against its adversaries? Banana Republic."

Do fine how? Trump is wildly popular in part because he is king of the gutter. The dirtier he plays, the more they love him.

Trump had his go at governing then he let Dr. Fauci shut down the US economy. It was all downhill from there.

His voters don't see it that way and it's unlikely that DeSantis will sway them. They want the "real thing," i.e. the Haunted Bidet himself.

It's kind of silly to blame Dr. Fauci when Generalassimo had the power, especially when shutting things down was the right decision anyway. It saved countless lives.

... Angry Creamsicle is leading Mr DeSantis among Republicans in California, according to a new poll.

The former president has the support of 44 per cent of Republicans in the state, while Mr DeSantis has 26 per cent, according to a poll by the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies.

Three months ago, Mr DeSantis led Mr Vacuous Dipshit among likely GOP primary voters in the state by eight percentage points.

That is a pretty significant gap. I'm pretty sure Pendejo Naranja could try to steal an election and incite a deadly riot and insurrection and still win the (R)adical nomination. In fact, it only seems to have helped him. DeSantis doesn't have a prayer. Good thing Biden will beat him again.

He's actually being investigated by the FEC because it looks like he used illegal means to do so.

Great start to the campaign, guys. Disastrous announcement on twittered followed by campaign finance violations.

    Incompetent boobs.

Why are you leftists always so anti-scientific? You ignorantly think something without ever bothering to look at the data then wrongly think you ignorance is good. The cold hard reality is masks and **** downs didn't do any good and actually caused harm. We have known this for over a year.

    https://www.michigancapitolconfiden...-stricter-lockdowns-didnt-reduce-covid-deaths

The data is all there but narcissistic leftists never bother to look at it and just keep spewing their butt backwards, untrue, nonsense.

Actually, science says they did work:

Lockdowns saved lives, but not a go-to strategy moving forward

    ...

A new University of Michigan-led study shows the lockdowns implemented in the first six months of the COVID-19 pandemic saved lives — but the decision to use lockdowns is much more nuanced and the research shouldn’t be used to justify lockdowns now or to retroactively endorse that approach, said health economist Olga Yakusheva, associate professor of nursing at the School of Nursing.

The study found that from March through August 2020, implementing widespread lockdowns and other mitigation in the United States potentially saved more lives (866,350 to 1,711,150) than the number of lives potentially lost (57,922 to 245,055) that were attributable to the economic downturn.

    ... https://record.umich.edu/articles/lockdowns-saved-lives-but-not-a-go-to-strategy-moving-forward/

Both the lockdowns and less severe mitigation measures have been effective.
