Ignorance is no excuse. Ask any Lawyer. They disobeyed God. That's all that matters. They KNEW that they were supposed to obey Him. But they didn't.

Think about this. God created us for a reason. What was that reason? Do you even know?

God created us for His pleasure and so that we, as His creation, would have the pleasure of knowing Him.

He did not want a bunch of robots, so He gave us free will. This resulted in sin. But God does not cause anyone to sin. People do that through exercising their free will. Some of you think this is evil. You are wrong. I could make the argument that everyone who has a child is evil, because that child will eventually die. They might join a gang and murder someone. They might become gay and catch aides, or some other disease and die. All of these things are possible because they were born. So the parents are responsible for everything they do. They're evil. Think that's crazy? Look again at your own argument about God being evil.

Tell me how ridiculing people for their beliefs is not "spreading the word" as much as someone who says "Jesus is Lord".

Ours is a free country and if people want to talk about their religion, regardless of what it is, they are free to do so. The only thing I ask is that our elected politicians not favor one religion over another, including atheism.....which despite protests from atheists, is as big a belief system as any other religion.

I do not "Ridicule" people for their beliefs, I do however point out impossibility and express opinion. Any ridicule felt is entirely on you.

You're spreading the word - your word. No difference.

There is significant difference in that my opinion is not a religion and I do not claim deity status.

No. It's God's word. "All things were created by Him and for Him." He wants a personal relationship with us. He wants us to love Him as He loves us. He even died on the Cross so we could do so.

I never said you did. Are you denying there are atheists who do? That's my point. People are free to speak. It's hypocritical and erroneous to say "Religious people can't speak, but atheists can because they aren't religious".

If an Atheist said such a thing they would be completely incorrect....fortunately I have never heard one do so.

Agreed they'd be incorrect. Just like if a Theist made a claim they "know" God they'd be incorrect. It's a belief, a matter of faith, not fact, knowledge or proof.

Frankly, I'm a bit astounded by your claim to have never seen a post by an atheist ridiculing theists. So you never saw the term "sky daddy" on this forum? Or posts that theists are weak and need religion because they fear death? Looking forward to your denials that you've never heard or read any of these things here.

Good is what God is. Evil is what God is not. God reveals both good and evil because anything, even God, is revealed just as much by what it is not as it is by what it is.

If all one knew of a thing is what it is, that one could not know that thing well.

So, how does a God, Who can only do good and create good things, also reveal evil. The solution was genius. God gave us a law to break, so that when we broke it, when we sinned, our eyes would be opened, and we would know both good and evil. Sin was not the beginning of the problem; it was the beginning of the solution.

The devil never sinned because he was never given a law to break. From man's first sin, to the present, the devil continues to try to get from sin by proxy what man got from sin directly, the knowledge of both good and evil. Because the devil never sinned, all he knows is good. Evil remains unrevealed to him. To this very day, even though he has become the very personification of evil, the devil is sincerely left to believe that he is as good as God. We were well on our way to the same fate as is evidenced by the fact that we did sin before we were sinners.

God will take upon Himself the penalty for our sin, but He cannot take upon Himself ignorance of what He is or is not.

There is no sin if Lucifer's revolt is not a sin. How can what Lucifer did not be a sin, but those who side with Lucifer against God be sinners? WTF?

They're opinion isn't a religion either and no poster here claims to be God. Same - you're no different.

God does not create good or evil. God reveals both good and evil. Only God is good.
Indeed, good is what God is. Evil is what God is not.

God reveals both good and evil because God's purpose for God's creation is the revelation of Himself to His creatures, and anything, even God, is revealed just as much by what it is not as it is by what it is.

According to whom or is that simply your belief?

As it is, I tend to agree with you, but readily admit it's simply my belief.

Any lawyer will tell you that the motivation of the accused is extremely important.

Mindless lackeys of the evil god-creature, those who apparently lack any free will of their own, they would say such an absurd thing. Ethical people who can think independently see things differently.

Just as in my scenario, the toddler knew I told him not to eat the candy, but he still disobeyed. Therefore, by your standards, I would have been justified in murdering that toddler, being that I gave him fair warning. That's why it's so clear how your standards are so shockingly immoral.

As contingent beings (creatures), we don't know anything necessarily.

We are, indeed, limited by our mortality.

We're never whole. We never have all of our material. Indeed, by the time we're seven years old, we don't have any of the matter we were born with. We never have all of our thoughts, emotions or choices. We are limited to one thought at a time, one emotion at a time, one choice at a time, one place at a time, one time at a time. We are in-part.

All part of the human condition. Still, whatcha gonna do? It is what it is.

Besides, it's the ride that's important since that's all we can know for certain. Sure, there may be something at the end, and I believe there is more to existence than just the physical, but that's a guess. We can only prove that we're here.

    Two of my favorite videos:

    Alan Watts is awesome!
