No, totally irrelevant to me. I had much more interest in watching the Braves lose to Baltimore than watching some one take the throne of a ceremonial position.

Not big on Monarchs nor celebrating them.

Totally agree. They’re just people who think they’re something special. Not even worth the spit I would send towards their shoe. I’m so sick of hearing about the Harry and his moronic wife I could puke. I almost care less than that about this new king. I don’t understand why people even give this crap the time of day.

I’d like to see Baltimore win the AL East. They’re a young and exciting team. I find myself rooting for the Pirates in the NL Central, Texas in the AL west also. This year’s O’s are a lot different than Earl Weavers O’s of the late 60’s and early 70’s. But it’s good to see some teams that haven’t had much success in the recent past have it this year. Minnesota is another team I’d like to see win, I remember the old twins or when the Senators moved from Washington to Minneapolis of Killebrew, Oliva, Allison, Kaat, Pascual Jim Perry, etc. Back then my Braves were in Milwaukee. But we still had a AA southern league Braves minor league team playing here. The Atlanta Crackers.

Nice to see the two New York teams having a hard time, but that will change as the season moves along.

We’d love to see “dem Os” win the East. The team has come a long way since they began the rebuild around 2017/18. First winning season we had since 2016 was last year and this year is shaping up nicely. The bats are awake and pitching much better than previous years. Let’s hope we don’t fizzle.

Earl Weaver, what a character! Loved him and his antics never disappointed. I mean, who gets ejected from a World Series?

Would have liked to have seen it live but time zones are a pain. Look forward to seeing video. Monarch is as important to UK history as George Washington is too the US. Too bad the badly educated woke in both countries are clueless about the importance.

Earl Weaver was a great manager. My favorite managers are or were Joe Torre, Bobby Cox, Billy Martin who always seemed to take a bad team and make them World Series or division contenders like he did in Minnesota, Texas and then the Yankees. Too violable to last though. Too hot headed. Leo Durocher, Sparky Anderson. I think Buck Showalter is probably the best manager today, he was with Baltimore, the Yankees and now the Mets. I suppose I can’t forget the hated Walter Alston of Dodger blue fame. At least by Braves fans.

Just voted yes. Not really “watching“ tuning in from time to time to see what’s going on. I found the progressive difference in the clothing to be interesting. Pretty old-school regal by the end but it’s their tradition so,
    Long Live the King!

One of the most useful things about watching such ancient traditions is the clear and careful explanation of the origins and meanings of the process as it defines the UK Constitution and its historical relationship to the English reformation, the pageantry of the military, and some beautiful British music written over hundreds of years.
I watched it out of one eye because it will be the only one I will ever see as it happens.

And it was pleasant to know no one would storm the steps of Westminster Abbey and declare it a fake. It speaks about a fundamentally mature population which has faith in its culture even after 1000 years.

And yet, it must haunt the Brits that before World War I, Great Britain was truly a powerful, thriving world empire. Look at what it is today.
It's good that they have the occasional lingering pageantry to celebrate the image of what they once were, but no longer are.

Since the magna carta in the 13th century the King has shared power with nobles and latterly the commoners.
The king represents soft power around the world.
It is the politicians who have buggered up the global respect the UK used to command.

Not sure how to answer your poll. Technically no but technically yes I suppose. I saw about 4 minutes when they were loading up and starting off in the carriage after the ceremony wherever to go I presume back to the palace. It is your fault though. You started that asparagus thread and during my morning walk I was like darn it, I need to clean that thing out and tidy it up it was so overgrown with weeds. That took way longer than expected so I saw a few minutes while scarfing down a peanut butter sandwich for breakfast to try to make up some of the lost time before my whole day's plans got thrown out of sorts.

Watched a full video. Very interesting and enjoyed all the tradition and pageantry.

I think Karen Findleys quote said it all. Protesters have to remain under the law..like anyone else.

I have to add...that UK isn't a bastion of free speech and IMO largely restricted speech is approved by the same leftist crowd that would like to throw eggs at the king or block access to the procession. They'd be the first to turn someone in for holding a sign that Homosexuality is a sin or stating on Instagram that trans women aren't women at all.

Watched part of it, where they loaded up the carriage and headed off to somewhere. Not a big fan of Charles, but I liked Elizabeth and William. The Pomp and Circumstance is pretty cool, and in general the traditions are a good thing imo.

As for the protestors, if they're like our 'antifa', BLM, and assorted deviants, they should have been herded into trucks, driven to the nearest port, and deported, preferably on a leaky rustbucket headed for Somalia or North Korea.
