While never one on deep, well thought out policy issues, Trump's latest foray into Crazytown seemed even more disjointed and onomatopoeic than usual.

Now, for the record, I am unaware of the US ever having been attacked by a missile. Not saying it did not happen, but a single instance escapes my memory.

Apparently, Trump wants a ding ding whoosh system for the US. I think in terms above a 3 year old level of English that translates to some sort of iron dome defense akin to what Israel has.

Also for the record, the US is exponentially geographically larger than Israel.

So there it is. Ding. Ding. Whoosh.

Donald Trump spoke in New Hampshire the night before polls opened in the first-in-the-nation primary state, and his comments are giving more fodder to those questioning the ex-president's bizarre way of thinking about complex concepts.

In a long, rambling speech, Trump began describing missile defense systems such as the so-called "Iron Dome" in Israel.

"You know these are not muscle guys here," Trump said, pointing to his arm. "They're muscle guys up here," he said, pointing to his brain.

"And they calmly walk to us, and ding, ding, ding, ding, boom, whoosh, boom," Trump continued. "They've only got 17 seconds to figure this whole thing out. Boop. Okay. Missle launch, shee-boom."

Trump said that he wants his own "Iron Dome" for the United States, which doesn't have missiles being constantly shot at it.

Well I would like to have a missile defense system, but I doubt Trump understands what it takes to develop such a system and due to his past behavior, such as North Korea and revealing secrets, I wouldn't want him in charge.

It's the "Star Wars" program Reagan wanted in the 80s

It was impractical then, it's impractical now.

There are players on the scene today that were not part of long range strategic planning till recently. Kim in Korea has ICBM's and Iran just test fired a solid fuel long range missile. Missile defense could be pretty important today.

The moment Trump left office, the world became much more dangerous. Ukraine & Israel happened on Sleepy Joe's "watch".

If we elect Trump. He was also successful at implemented vague ideas about which he had no understanding.

Agreed. Even more important today than it was in the past. If you watch the Ukraine vs Russia right now, missile defense has been vital in lowering the casualties of Russia's attack. Looking at Pearl Harbor, 9/11, etc... it shows what happens when we are not prepared.

The main problem USA will run into is they have a much larger area of land to defend. I think the focus will have to start with coastal major cities, and a few key resources/cities in central USA. One of the hardest parts of a potential incoming missile strikes would obviously be communication if said strikes break down our ability to do so. I think one could expect pure chaos if we lost full communication for more than a day.

You forget that Trump has stated numerous times how he is more intelligent than US generals and admirals. In addition, we already have invested with Israel, the iron dome, and a naval system, Aegis for missile defense, to start. Making that a national defense system is a whole another ballgame.

That said, when MAGAs were clapping for Trump on his work with north Korea nuclear program, I specifically stated we needed a missile defense system, because it may be another country to worry about tomorrow.

FYI, it is best to defeat a missile right after launch or in flight, because destroying a missile above won't be as effective and if it is armed, even less.

That's great for countries that don't have submarines with launch capacities and who's neighbors allow us to build defense systems on their land.

Why are submarines now in the subject, few nations have that capability and nuclear submarines are a whole different defense issue than land based ICBMs.

Covid happened on Trump’s. And that was much more deadly.
One of the really important qualities in a president is stability. Predictably. Trump doesn’t have that.

And as proven today (yet again), he doesn’t have intelligence either. He is as dumb as a brick.

Because submarines carry missiles. Also, as I said before, we need cooperation of countries neighbors to place missile defense systems close to the starting point of a launch. It some areas, that just won't be a possibility. IE central China/Russia.

He didn't claim he was more intelligent, he said he knew more. 'Knowing more', to me, speaks of experience.

“I know more about ISIS than the generals do, believe me,” he bragged in November 2015. “They don’t know much because they’re not winning,”
