Why is so impossible today to have an objective discussion about an election or politics in this country today? Turn on the TV or radio, log on to any forum and it’s the same old thing, a bunch of blind sheep regurgitating talking points they heard from one side or the other. The fact is that both Romney & Obama are, and I’m going to be lenient here, misleading people on what they and their opponents stand for.
Romney is afraid to tell the truth about the capitalistic society for which he wants, because the truth about this is that for there to be successful people in society there must be unsuccessful people. There can be no winner without there also being a loser. And the problem for Romney is unsuccessful people vote too. He must therefore convince the not so successful they too have opportunity to be successful.
Obama is afraid to tell the truth about the socialistic society that he is for, because the truth about this is for all of us to have an “equal share/shot” in society that share or shot will be at a much less prosperous level than most of us would like. So he must convince us that his style of government will raise those less fortunate up to a level of those more fortunate and not the other way around.
Here is where my problem comes in. I understand why both Obama and Romney say what they say, but am at a total loss as to why we as citizens blindly follow one candidate or the other so passionately that we stop challenging the one we support and believe everything from one side and nothing from the other. Worse yet begin to attack each other with the same lies the politicians are using.
