There are two facts about Social Security.

    1) SS will go broke in the near future.
    2) Democrats dont want Congress to touch SS.

The fact that democrats dont want Congress to touch SS indicated they are greedy and apparently dont care about their children or grand kids.

But the simple fact is SS can be easily fix with out much pain.
    1) Raise full SS to the age of 70 and the lower funding to 65. This is simply logical since people are living much longer.
    2) Raise the SS pay in cap to at least $500,000 to increase the pay in. Democrats should like this since they love more taxes.

If those two things would be put in place, SS would be more viable for many years to come.

Who has any logical arguments against these two things?

You are missing a few options from your list. Either you lack imagination, or you only listen to conservative right wing sources. Mostly likely this list of choices A through B reflects a poor imagination and only listening to right wing sources.

If democrats dont like my simple logical solution, what do you suggest, since something needs to be done.

Why do you think it'll go broke in a few years? Millennials already outnumber Boomers and GenX will outnumber them in 10 years.
The people crying the sky is falling are the ones looking at all that money borrowed from SS that will have to be paid back. All those trillions of dollars.

I know, it'll mean people having their taxes raised to cover the debt that had them cut well so be it. Oh wait the right doesn't want taxes raised on the hyper rich. Why do they hate our children so?

The only taxes that need to be raised is taking the cap from approx $109,00 to $500,000. Democrats should love this since it is raising taxes and higher paid earners pay for it.

I love future generations so much I don't want them to have to work until they're 70...that's barbaric ( and slows rush hour traffic even more :) )

What you miss is that the tax cuts on the hyper rich were in part paid for by SS surplus funds. Over half the debt to SS occurred while Bush Jr was president. To now say that to cover the debt we need larger contributions from the well off rather than the hyper rich is to shift taxes from the hyper rich to the middle class. Do you not see the problem there?

However people are living longer. SS cant afford paying out benefits for 30 years after they start getting SS after the age of 67.

Do you know who first raided the SS trust fund? You might want to look that up.

Where are you getting the idea that Democrats are against this??? Bernie Sanders himself introduced the idea of lifting the payroll cap.

    http://www.ncpssm.org/EntitledtoKno...ing-Social-Security-How-About-Lifting-the-Cap

Just so you know, raising the social security age to 70 would save about $250 billion a year, but the federal deficit is still over $500 billion, so the raise to 70 doesn't exactly solve the problem. I couldn't get a hard number on what raising the payroll tax would do in terms of deficit reduction, but most sources weren't optimistic that it would make a huge dent. So it's not exactly the silver bullet that you think it is.

For the record, I'm 100% in favor of both of your ideas, and I don't know of any liberals who aren't. And since one of the top Democrats proposed your idea, I deem your claim to be false.

Yes I know but I don't hold that against Reagan. He already has enough on his plate. He was president in 1983 right?

I agree with you, and since the Republicans are in control, there is no reason why this can't be accomplished. Unless it
    is for political reasons.

I'm actually not against raising the cap. Frankly why not eliminate the cap altogether?
What I want is that the hyper rich pay back the debt created to give them tax breaks first. If we do that and still need more so be it.

They are living longer because they are stronger physically due to medical advances and work-out mentality.

Unfortunately, raising the tax on the hyper rich won't make a dent in the debt. Trump promised to dramatically reduce the debt,
but with unnecessary expenses, like the wall, will certainly not relieve this situation. I am sure that he is aware of this, but he wants
his name on it, the ego-maniac that he is.

What's so wrong with working until you are 70? My dad raised cattle until he was over 80. And I can name countless others who worked hard well over the age of 70.

No, the debt will go up, of that there is no doubt because only half the Boomers are getting social security and Medicare now and the hyper rich certainly won't allow for a 50% tax rate on them without loopholes. As more enter the system then rather than having a surplus they'll start running a deficit, probably next year. That will shift in 10 years when the boomers start leaving the system and it runs a surplus again.

Of course 50% on the hyper rich would balance the budget and start paying down the debt. If they were true Americans....

    How do you figure that?

And if that happens who do you think will invest capital into new companies, technology, and other things?

Oh,gawd, not the old "people are living longer" crap...even if they were they are NOT healthier at 70 than they have been.....employers will need more bathrooms (with Depends dispensers) and free oxygen tanks and put up with the effects of prescription drugs, provide nap times, etc., etc.

Living LONGER does not equate with being healthier or being stronger...

Only those who aren't 70 think it's a good idea....

You're dreaming man :) A snowflake work till 70! Every time we get together with mixed crows my wife and I get a laugh listening to them whining how their back, shoulders, legs, feet or heads hurt and they haven't even had a real job yet! Either of us didn't even notice a backache until our late forty's and even then it was gone soon as you got moving :)

You no you have created an entitlement culture when your 12 year old is complain about aches and pain like a 60 year old!
