What they are? What they say? What they mean? For your wayback pleasure, ThePodocasts presents to you 'The Bill of Rights' part 1!
Reading Hamilton’s critique of the bill of rights is enlightening. His view was that being specific about certain rights made anything outside of these fair game for political exclusion. Not a big Hamilton fan but this is legally and philosophically politically powerful stuff!
I do not care for Hamilton. He simply ignored the 10th Amendment which I thought summarized Article 1 Section 8 perfectly! I really need to do that video, got it written just haven't recorded it yet. I know this is basic stuff, but turns out that the majority of our audience is between the ages of 18 and 28, and I just want them to have all of the information before they choose a side =)
Hamilton once met Jefferson at Monticello. Jefferson had three large paintings of Newton, Bacon and Locke. Jefferson explained to Hamilton that he felt these were the greatest men in history. Hamilton told Jefferson he was wrong because Julius Caesar was the greatest man in history. So that tells me volumes about Hamilton!
