    I don't think you comprehend what Erdogan said or meant. Islam is fundamental but not like fundamentalism in Christianity. The fundamentals are the five pillars of Islam.

    Not only that, they automatically relate Islam with the Middle East while ignoring other parts of the globe. Islam is as culturally diverse as Christianity is.

    A few years back I sat at a table with a Bangladeshi couple at Bangkok airport. Had a nice chat with them. They both spoke wonderful English and he a pharmacist. When I got up to leave I offered him my hand which he took, she politely refused. I wasn't offended in any way.

    Pakistanis and Bangladeshis are of similar ethnicity so I presume Pakistani women won't shake hands with a strange male.

    Wrong.

    The Lebanese boys (probably second generation Aussies) from the south west of Sydney insulted a couple of the local Cronulla girls so their boyfriends stepped in and it escalated from there.

    It became more of a turf/postcode riot than a race riot. Surfers along the Australian coast are very protective of their patch. Been there, done that.
