Doctor Who really choked it on introducing Clara as a character

Clara was supposed to be this girl who jumped into Doctor Who's whirling time stream and altered his past history to undo the damage caused by the bad guy (I forget his name). And well, I think there wasn't enough build-up to this point.

Clara appeared in all of two episodes as other versions of Clara before the "real" Clara showed up, and it all happened in one season, which was not nearly long enough.

Contrast this to "The Silence Will Fall" which was first uttered by Prisoner Zero at the beginning of Series 4 and the pay-off wasn't until the last episode of Series 6!!! Now THAT's a build-up!!!

The introduction of Clara should have taken at least three seasons so that it could really be shown that her intervention was something that kept happening, over and over.

They could have introduced some other companion to bide the time while that happened.

    What do you think?

Honestly I thought the whole thing with Clare was kind of anti-climatic. That whole episode was pointless and felt tacked on just to give an explanation to her. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the finale for the most part other then the pointlessness(is that a word? )of it. I like Clare, I think she's witty, good hearted, and definetly not Martha. However I think they need to stop with all the companions being special in some way. She makes the third one in a row to be unique.

The Doctor's companions are almost always young girls with average intelligence and no skills or education. If they're not special in some way, how do you explain the Doctor choosing them to tag along?

The whole NEW episodes all suck how could the TIME LORDS lose to anyone they could do all kinds of devastating things like erase the Dalek race from history like DC did with the Penny Plunderer in the Batman timeline.

Seriously that is your sun, poof, gone we made it into a blue giant no home race ,the Kaleds, to become Daleks - we win!

Give me any of the first four Doctors anytime that is Tom Baker and earlier!

I actually like Clara. I thinks she's clever and witty. Same with Amy. I think they would make a great team together and no I don't mean anything perverted by that.

I like the first two versions of Clara (dalek/victorian), but the modern version that became the Doctor's companion, I'm still a bit indifferent about. She isn't as interesting as the other two.

Also, I really liked Amy, but only by herself. I really couldn't stand Rory, nor the relationship/dynamic between the two. A strong independent character like Amy would never be with such a sniveling wuss as Rory.

I say bring back Rose, by far the best companion since the show's new run. Luckily, she'll be in the 50th anniversary special, but unfortunately they won't be keeping her around.

I agree Rory was awful. He was the whiniest pansy around and there is no way a guy like that that does nothing but contantly whine and complain all the time would be attractive to someone who was a go getter that Amy Pond was. I assume he was there so that loser nerds could feel represented in the series so they could live vicariously through him since he got the girl. No way that happens in real life.

Rose is my second favorite after Amy "Alleluja" Pond "Allelujaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" and Martha was by far my least favorite. They couldn't write her out of the series quickly enough.

Yes I can't imagine why an older gentleman would be interested in picking young, pretty girls as "companions."

    It's a doggone mystery.
