so why are you crying about hostility and anger that you have perceived in my post versus exploring the possibility.

This is why it's pseudo intellectual because it's not genuine.
But you regard me as uptight and angry and starting war because I'm resistant?

Deposit that you would feel that way about any religious person who accepts absolutes other than the only one you think people should accept.

I recommend practicing what you preach.

Again this is in hostility it's advice be open to other perspectives.

The fun of doing this is discussing things that really matter with people who believe differently. I not only don't care if people don't accept my way of approaching life but I wouldn't expect it. I am interested in how others face life, not having people agree with me.

then stop projecting hostility and anger on to me and concerning yourself with my mood. Stop lecturing me.

Your behavior here goes against what you said just now.

If you think it's fun then why aren't you having fun talking to me? Why do you feel hostility and anger directed to you or is that some sort of fun are you a masochist?
These words don't line up with previous posts to me. You come off as competitive when I express my way of approaching life to you.

If that's not about me disagreeing with you what the hell is it about?

I do find the vast length of time since the start of what we currently think of as the Big Bang is astounding. Human existence is unfathomably tiny in that timeline. This guy plotted it out with some Dominoes.

The one statement I can agree with. Man created gods to answer questions that couldn't be answered.....god of the gaps. A god has no power without religion (subject of a thread?).
Anyway, I think you get the idea, from most on here who have taken your opinions seriously that your ideas are "misguided", but to me (god exists man doesn't), who has taken a lot of acid in her day, it sounds more like you are tripping balls.

I didn't mean to suggest any particular religion. But rather something outside ourselves, a source and epitome of all goodness. Even in Christianity, when Jesus taught to love God with all your heart, mind, and strength. He didn't say who God is. It's as if the concept is an inclination to an ideal, as if it were baked into us. Why does everyone try to do their best at what they do, if to do the best isn't our baseline?

    Tripping balls? Sounds uncomfortable.

Remember, God is simply Man's intellectualization of The Spiritual [which is non-intellectual]. It's the best he can do [and it seems to be good enough for billions]. It's just like science is Man's intellectualization of Nature. Same idea.

In this sphere, there are no shortcuts. You have to do the work and find out what "exists" at the end of your thinking.

Many anti-religion people don't understand that there is no right or wrong when it comes to your path. You go forward and see where it takes you. Sometimes it makes sense and sometimes it doesn't, but the destination is a place where everything is ok just the way it is [for reasons that we will never understand].

People who have found peace through religion still fight the same battles as everybody else, but they have developed a place to retreat [a center] where [when intellectually exhausted] they can give it up [for a while] and live to fight another day. Eventually, they will see that the battle is with their own ego and they might be one of the lucky ones who is able to let go and truly live in harmony with [whatever you wish to call it, God, Nature, the Universal Force, The One, whatever].

Now, before you heretics :) go off, think about this for a minute [or two]. Could billions of people be so wrong about this? And remember, it's just a conversation. Tell me what you think without getting personal. This is REALLY interesting stuff!

"I think, therefore I am," is one of the all-time great insights that has sparked some of the greatest debates in philosophy.

Do you really exist outside of your own mind?

There are many people here who are quite aggressive. I am not trying to win anything [as this is not possible], only to put out different points of view for people to consider.

What do you think they're aggressive what did they say to trigger you in such a way?
So what difference does aggression make you spend a lot of time whining about everything that people say.

It sounds like you're upset because people don't share your point of view. And you cry about aggression and hostility and anger and boohoo and waa waaa waaa.

If you're just trying to put out another point of view when people don't share it don't get so butthurt.

Yes, that doctor was good at observation - an important capability. From there, any even slightly serious issue would be followed up with testing and analysis to verify, determine severity, develop possible courses of action based on what is known about the patient, etc.

In fact, doctors are trained in this kind of observation.

Then, you switched to "spirituality" for some reason that you do not explain.

Yes indeed - the only thing we know for sure .. that we know we exist --- or at least we think we do and that this act of thinking .. is proof of existence - all that we have.. for certain

Listening is a little different from observing. Although you can certainly gather insight from things like voice tone/inflection, body posture, eye contact, the most important part is listening to what the patient has to say. In many cases, this can eliminate a great deal of unnecessary testing. Unfortunately, doctors are poorly trained in this type of listening. Instead, most are trained to r/o just about everything via testing [for all kinds of reasons].

The point about spirituality is that it makes the intellect better by eliminating a great deal of the interference.

Again, I realize that very few people have any clue what I am talking about, but that's ok. Why would I care if people agree with me? People need to agree with themselves. Everybody is on their own path.

This doesn't really answer my question. You've provided even more supposed explanation, but you have provided no reason to believe that your explanation is true. What makes you think it is the perfect solution?

responding to constructive criticism with narcissism means you don't realize.

Everybody has a clue what you're talking about it's just twaddle. It's not that it's complicated or high-minded it's that it's brain dead.
I have no idea why you would do this but here you are still whining about it. And insinuating everyone that doesn't agree with you is somehow I'm not as smart as you.
So why do you constantly cry and moan and complain about people responding to you.

All you've done in response to me is play victim and insinuate that I'm dumber than you.

The only reason someone would need to do that is because they have an inferiority complex. Narcissism is used to mask insecurity.

No, I'm not accepting your notion that doctors are limiting the way they observe. They have the medical records, they know what to look for, they here what the patient says and know what to ask to draw out more information, etc.

Testing is a method of observation. Ignoring testing, as you seem to propose, would be a profound failure in observation. You can't possibly discount testing as not being observation.

Plus, there you go again with your claims of "spirituality", with no definition of what you mean or evidence of results.
