Do you think it's labor laws or the availability of cheap labor?

So like a sliding tax rate based on revenue?
Can you expand on your idea?

Well, i didnt mean it stops it. You can still grow despite being stifled. Id argue we would be alot better off with this growth AND a great infrastructure, that supports commuters.

Yes, I am awed by that.
Why do you think Ike wanted the interstate highway system?

You just want to emulate China's economy? Without the child slaves how do you do that?

I'm not sure. That's why I posted the thread.
But I could, for example, see incentivizing new development.

The question presupposes that there are viable, proven options out there. Are there?

Umm..thats us, using them. We benefit from their child labor far more then they do.
I dont think the Chinese government taps that resource, as much as you think. If they do its no where near as the scale at which our corporations utilize them, so thats obviously not what props them up.

Since California already has a head start, we can discuss results rather than projections.

Per mile, CA roads cost tax payers more than twice the national average and in spite if paying the highest taxes and adding a second gas tax combined with higher registration fees, our roads are among the worst in the country.

CA minimum wage was increased up to $15., but after that worker fills his gas tank, pays rent that includes the landlords taxes, and buys their needs from heavily taxed businesses also paying their employees more, the worker is no better off.

Its not like CA doesn't take in enough money. Debt continues to increase while cities were already on the brink of insolvency before Covid.

While I oppose tariffs, China is an exception. Companies are fleeing CA for more tax friendly states. Doubling down on CA policy will chase those jobs right out of the country.

By proxy we are the ones doing it, since we give sweatshops the reason to exist.
But my point is child labor isnt whats driving their economy..it drives ours more, so why arnt we seeing such benefits.

    Help me out here.
What does that list of grievances have to do with what the US should do?

no we're not by proxy. If China stopped then we couldn't by proxy with China at least they're 100% at fault for this nobody else
Oh so they're doing it for no reason? That makes a lot of sense.

No incentivizing people to work it's capitalism. Socialism incentivizes genocide.

I just told you the reason, cause we use it.
And its not really a Chinese policy, its more of an cause and effect scenario. We outlaw it, yet need it, so their economy fills the void for us.
Do you really think the only reason the Chinese are doing well is because their corporations hire children, and pay them sub par? I dont think so but if you have proof of that you can show it. Cause if it is, we also tap that resource.
I think its a myriad of other factors they just do correctly. Like investments into industry's that provide them a much higher return, for instance technology and infrastructure.

yes you made a circular argument.
we don't need it they fill the void because they choose to because they value money over life. That's not caused by us and you'll never convince me that it is.
I don't think the Chinese are doing well.
they don't invest in tech they just rip everyone else off and produce it cheaper because they I have slaves. take development is done in Japan and South Korea China is just manufacturing that's it.

South Korea actually is another example of how to do things correctly.
You gonna tell me they steal tech, and use child labor?
Their government invests in the people, and infrastructure as well.

Im not after convincing you of facts..you not accepting that is a personal problem. Child labor is illegal in China, their black market uses it for export...Export to us. We abuse it more then they do end of story.

    "
    1. China’s incredibly competitive economy makes companies take any opportunity they can to get a leg up over their competitors, even illegally. For instance, factors such as worker shortages, high inflation and a rising currency reduce profit margins, resulting in underage labor. The Chinese government has acknowledged that child labor is a problem that is at the heart of its export economy.
    2. The Chinese government is working to stop child labor. In 2008 authorities in China’s southern province of Guangdong (near Hong Kong) broke up a massive child labor ring. The resulting arrests broke up a child labor apparatus in one of China’s biggest manufacturing cities. As a result, more than 100 children were freed."

Not at all. Capitalism has dominated all other systems so far. We shouldn't abandon it, just modify it according to the circumstances. :)

it's not another example it's the first example. China's model is rip off everyone else and undercut them while paying our people peanuts.

I see you did pivot away from China that was smart of you.
exactly you're trying to convince me that your opinion is fact.
no we don't we have no jurisdiction in China.
