Good post and true. But watch those who just can't understand simple concepts bring up totally irrelevent things like, "Oh ya, what if a black guy said it or a gay guy...wahhhhh..""

I support the right of 3rd aged people to make retarded statements , civilized societies must be tolerant to the elders .

A private business can fire you for doing nothing illegal. I'm 100% positive it happens every day :wall:

If you defend Sterling in any way or find yourself feeling sorry for him, you are a racist.

Same with disagreeing with Obama -- you're a racist.

Its that leftwing tolerance in action.

Civilized societies should be tolerant to RESPECTABLE elders. I have no reason to respect or tolerate an elder who spouts off racist rants when he thinks no one is listening.

    Free speech doesn't guarantee employment

He can hate on blacks all he wants - that's his right. But the NBA is not obligated to keep him on their ledger.

A private business can't fire it's owner. That's why they didn't 'fire' him -- they banned him and URGED him to sell.

No one is preventing him from speaking.

Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from criticism of speech. The league can do whatever it wants to.

I'll grant you that and I have the same reaction. He's a pitiful soul who demands to be crucified (metaphorically speaking of course). Now if all of us practiced this kind of intolerance for racism consistently, then pitiful souls who attack and crucify whites and men would face the same public crucifixion (metaphorically speaking of course).

The NBA is a private organization that can criticize him all they want.

He was free to speak his mind. . . and the rest of the world is free to react to his words in any way they wish. . .applaud him or reject him.
The world of the NBA has spoken and he is no longer wanted in that world.

No where in the Constitution does it say that "freedom of speech" doesn't come with consequences!

Sterling is now learning the consequences of being a ********!

    - - - Updated - - -

If he doesn't know that yet, he is even dumber than I thought!

Go to work tomorrow and tell your boss what you really think of him. Then complain that getting fired violated your freedom of speech.

I'm not against the NBA's decision to kick out Sterling.

I'm just wondering about people's priorities. Some old guy gets recorded without his knowledge by some skanky gold digger, saying some foul stuff about black guys it's a national uproar. Meanwhile, the VA hospital in Phoenix might be responsible for up to forty deaths of our veterans, and hardly a peep

    I guess this scandal wasn't sexy enough.

Disagreeing with Obama is not racist. Disagreeing with "that black president" is.

Obama and his minions are the ones who don't let anybody forget he's black. No problem talking about his skin color if you're on his side.. in fact, it's encouraged.

the right doesn't get it yet...

    http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2008/10/palin-fears-med/

"Palin told WMAL-AM that her criticism of Obama's associations, like those with 1960s radical Bill Ayers and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, should not be considered negative attacks. Rather, for reporters or columnists to suggest that it is going negative may constitute an attack that threatens a candidate's free speech rights under the Constitution, Palin said."

Yes. He shouldn't be charged with a crime for what he said. Then again, he wasn't and he wont be. The NBA have every right to punish him though. Freedom of speech doesn't mean you don't face ANY consequences for what you say. It means you cannot be charged with a crime for it.
