Coronavirus prompts a dozen schools in Washington state to close, others weigh options Some school districts are sanitizing classrooms daily, while others have temporarily shut down schools in an effort to prevent the spread of the virus. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...ton-state-close-others-weigh-options-n1145496 I teach not too far from where the first cases popped up in California. I haven't heard anything from my District about what happens if we close. I don't think I'm alone. I don't think any district knows anything. The education system is going to be upended by this. That's not a bad thing. It's a terrible system.
There are a lot of students from Asian families, including many Chinese, in that area. Also there's a huge homeless problem in the city's downtown and forested margin areas. Another potential breeding ground for diseases to fester. I literally saw a homeless guy grab a pidgeon off the ground with his bare hands. Very skilled. I don't know what he was planning to do with the bird. He had a demented smile on his face. This was right beneath near a freeway overpass close to a homeless encampment and someone had started a campfire.
If only it were that. School exists mostly to provide free daycare for two-income families. When that shuts down months before the Summer break, it's going to affect the economy.
And we wonder why public school sucks.... School used to be for learning. Not liberal indoctrination, and not for babysitting. WTF. Meanwhile some of you left-wingers are pushing to expand "free school" to include college..... (Is that to babysit the millennials while both of their parents are working to support them because they won't grow up and leave the nest?) So wrong and so many issues on so many levels. I'll have to remember a teacher saying teachers are mostly babysitters, the next time babysitters teachers start screaming for a raise.... You know, if any of us survive the coronapocalypse
It wont last long, soon as the teachers and children start adding up the days they'll have to make up this summer
How they're NOT testing for the virus in the mildly ill so that the death rate appears higher causing a panic. https://miami.cbslocal.com/2020/03/...-miami-woman-allegedly-denied-proper-testing/ “The doctor himself told me that, you know, he thinks that the results of my [preliminary] tests mean that I most likely have the COVID-19, but that the Department of Health did not want to pursue it further,” said the woman, who requested that her name not be used to protect her privacy. “It was either the Department of Health or the CDC that decided not to further pursue the inquiry. But I was basically told that it is most likely that I have this virus and that I should self-quarantine.” “Obviously, I would have liked to know if, in fact, I have this virus.” There's method to the left's madness.
Not what I meant, stop assuming and that sort of odd mistake and reply will not happen again fiddlerdave
I wouldn't be upset if all schools shut down a month or month in a half early and let seniors graduate early to stop this from spreading as vaccines are worked on. I don't think the CV is a worldwide killer but like the flu, it'll take down people with weak immune systems so it's better to go ahead and let the kids enjoy an extra long summer break. Just my opinion.
This claim is so absurd. Trump and the managers hadn't do any testing except only in people that had been in direct contact with Chinese and cruise ships with the virus in it until the FIRST of MARCH! Even now on the 5th very little testing kits have been sent out and nothing has as of the 3rd. Now yesterday and today, we are hearing about positive cases, including those people had died in the basement few weeks, but even being dead did not allow any testing prior to this week. In other words, this claim the "left" is ridiculous. If anyone had "madness", it was the Republicans and Trump who have showing "madness" to not prepare more and to claim even today that everything is fine, it's just the flu and relax, even when our critical supply lines from China, India, and other places that manufacture or pharmaceutical and essential supplies.
Why would you think you would get unemployment if your job gets shut down? Maybe, but if there is any kind a job, you claim may be denied. Getting any vacation, severance pay, sick time, etc? Not until that is exhausted. How about any other jobs available? How about even McDonald's or ditch digging? How about cleaning up throw up and vomit and diarrhea on the beds and sheets?
Ok, millennial. I'm 42. But thank you for assuming based on my wisdom I must be "boomer" age. I'd rather be mistaken for a boomer than a millennial any day. If you want to try to personally insult me you're going to have to do a lot better than that. Or, you know, you could debate the topic, if you were able....
Nothing wrong with being a boomer! You guys, and the generations before you, built this country. I'd rather be mistaken for a Boomer than a Millennial any day.
