Castro achieved the crowning victory of his long campaign against the USG as the POTUS came his Cuba to cry "Uncle!". Fidel publicly shunned Obama. It was a stunning victory and validation for Castro. Obama, and the USG were humiliated and diminished. Is that supposed to be a bad thing Margot?

I think all the kerfuffle during the Cuban Missile crisis was the Soviets wanting the USA to remove its nukes from Turkey. The US had nuclear weapons in Turkey, the USSR in Cuba. Balance of power in my mind.
