England vs Italy was a sleeping pill compared to that.

German team. There is a spark again. Have not seen anything like that for years. They where running their ass of, there was no giving in., which they used to do.
Which alienated the fans. Rotten spoiled millionaires, was the stigma.

I can live and enjoy with performances like that, even without victory.

The 2:2 draw was well deserved, both teams gave it all.

The 2 Mexican goals, neither Ruediger or Suehle looked good, they go on their card. Well have to say that a huge guy like Suehle cannot get his head that low, but he still looked bad not able to defend that header, same for Ruediger and he is a fortress.
Those huge guys have always a problem with the speedy, smaler, wirl wind guys.

I want more of that.

Brazil played horribly. Neymar did nothing and left the game with a serious knee injury. Vini and Rodrygo were unrecognizable (except for a crossbar by Rodrygo, and an opportunity for Vini that was thwarted by the ref that mistakenly didn't apply the advantage law). The interim coach seemed good at first but now the team is falling apart. I can't wait for Ancelotti to join. Brazil fell to 3rd place after playing rather weak teams, and should fall more once the schedule gets tougher. This team is not as good as Tite's (who went undefeated in the last qualifiers, achieving the undisputed first place).

USA 4-0 Ghana. Pulisic had a PK goal and an assist. Reyna scored two. Good first half for everybody, all 4 goals were first half goals. Boring second half with no additional score. Pulisic only played the first half.

That was a complete blackout. They have won every game since then, UEFA and Liga.

 

Were they caught out resting a lot of first team players?

 

Some were rested, like Kane. Tuchel did some experimenting.
But none of it can explain that blackout. The DFB Cup is known for such strange wins. I think sometimes the 1.Liga player see those games as friendlies and get caught mentally flatfooded. The underdogs go full out nothing to lose.
The wining goal fell in the last minute of added time, which says it all. They earned that win.
Dortmund, at home, had a pissed of Bayern, a few days later and got wiped out, 0:4.

We got it! That was tense. 17 shots, only 2 on target. Loads of missed opportunities. In the last few seconds, there was what looked like a PK for Ukraine. I was surprised that there was no VAR. We dodged a bullet. Anyway, it feels good, after two missed WC qualifications in a row, to qualify for the Euro 2024. Congrats Montegriffo, England was superb and much superior to Italy. We barely made it. But I'm very relieved and happy that we did. Now we have a few months to improve. Hopefully we'll get to the tournament more competitive than we've been in the last year and a half.
