Quote it for me. I literally see nothing in that link about creating new yeast colonies. Nothing.

What are you on about here? From the article: "The offspring reproduced only after they attained the size of their parents." If you think there's something funny about that, then, yeah, you misunderstood.

    What other questions?

Have you figured it out yet or are you still struggling...?

I find it funny you are arguing, or discussing something that wasn’t even directed toward you and afterwards go off topic from what you originally inquired, then post about an experiment that you know nothing about…

I’ll give you a pretty interesting hint. If there is a sheep… Just one… can it have a child? There would need to be two right? Two parents…

As I stated before, why don’t you find out “how” the yeast reproduced first, then explain how it went from unicellular to reproducing multicellular life…?

The one I've asked you like three times... do you know HOW they created the colony of yeast?

And since you are lost in the debate and are arguing over things that you should know are not true about yeast – read from here on:

There is this neat tab on IE. Click on "edit" then on the bottom it states "find on page"...

Try that... Did you say you work in the computer field?

    Its called Mitosis.

Even a 3rd Grader should be shaking their head at this one.

Are you suggesting that bateria divides by mitosis? I know your a Google Ninja, but I just want to know if that is what you found in your Google search...

Because by me posting this, it's going to make you Google some more since you have no clue.

    Google away rs199!!!

The only info in that link about yeast colonies is how to get cells for the PCR. There is absolutely nothing in that link about creating new colonies. Nothing. Zero. If you disagree, quote it.

Now, understand that DNA is part of unicellular life. So, does the DNA replicate during unicellular mitosis?

What are the steps for mitosis in bacteria?

Then take your pick... Either you must admit to not reading the site OR you know absolutely nothing about the experiment except for what you Google'd...

After that - I will be more than happy to explain it to you or tell you to read it because it's within the first 50 lines...

    Bateria

No I am not suggesting that a Drum Kits divides at all! Let alone by mitosis!!!

    WTF are you on?

How I forget that typos and you are like a dog trying to figure out calculus... I apologize.

I was supposed to read bacteria… I will try to proof read a little better know how you struggle… Forgive me!

Now answer the question, and we can then go back and you can answer the other questions on your COMPLETE FAIL!!!!

Again, if you want to just have a conversation with rstones, then take it to PMs. The whole point of a forum is to involve multiple people. If you don't want to get called out on your ignorance, then stop making ignorant posts.

The yeast clusters reproduced like other asexual, multicellular organisms. You know those things exist, right? Not every organisms has to have two parents to have offspring. Like how a flatworm reproduces by splitting in two. The original, single flatworm is the "parent" and the two resulting worms are the "offspring." You still trying to say you're a biologist? Because this is going back to 8th grade biology now.

By the way, I apologize for using humans as an example of organisms that don't reproduce until a certain point in their growth. That point was about multicellular organisms not reproducing until a certain maturity level, though, not about comparing the reproductive process of yeast against other organisms. I should have just used flatworms in the first place to avoid your inevitable confusion.

First off, you asked that and then posted your PCR link. You know, the one that had absolutely nothing to do with making new colonies. Anyway...

Why are you asking me to restate what was in the article? They took yeast from an existing colony or colonies, or suspension, and transferred them to new media. Then they shook them up, let the clusters settle, and discarded the remaining suspended cells. Then they repeated that over and over with the clusters. Did you need me to simplify it for you a bit? Is that why you asked?

You said that link had something to do with making new colonies. It doesn't. All you have to do to prove yourself right (which you can't) is quote the part about making new colonies. You're just deflecting now because you know you messed up and can't admit it. I thought you said you could admit when you're wrong.

Really, do you want me to quote the text from that link and explain every part of it line-by-line? I'll do it when I have time tonight if that will help you understand how you messed up.

Readers - If any of you read the links you should know that I really "can't" just let them know how wrong wired was dealing with yeast becoming a multicellular organism and then reproducing multicellular life.

I have provided EVERYTHING they need to from outstanding sites that lets them read and follow along on how this is just a colony of yeast and that it's not multicellular life (as was quoted in the link from Lopey - thank you Lopey) and thus unicellular is not going to replicate multicellular life. It just doesn't happen like that.

I do not know WHY these two think that a unicellular organism can just PRESTO CHANGO whole chromo's into existence during cell division.... it's just ridiculous... it's as ridiculous as Jesus moonwalking across the Mississippi River...

Funny you call my post ignorant and you think someone shaking up a bottle of yeast presto chango's it into a multicellular lifeform!!

    :)

    Wow!!

Oh it does!! You being the biologist should know what it states. Why don't you just go through the first 50 lines and just tell us what's going on and then - maybe... you'll figure out why that experiment is very important in showing that you and rs199 have no clue what your talking about!!

Go ahead - tell us what's going on in that experiment!

    And what did that produce?

No - don't go through and explain every line, just give us a quick assessment of what is going on is all...

I know what is going on, and that is why it is linked.

Also, you do know that Lopey provided a link that the person who was conducting the experiment stated that the cluster wasn't multicellular right?

BUT - DON'T LET THAT STOP YOU - BY ALL MEANS CONTINUE!!!!!

People reading probably find it quite funny!!!

Again, because this is truly funny… Lopey linked the person who conducted the experiment and he was “quoted” stating that the cluster of yeast was not multicellular… But, like I told Burzmali – keep up the posts!! Continue!!

Tell us how throwing yeast in a jar and shaking it up and then letting it stand makes life? Can I do the same with fish? Take a couple of fish – shake them up and then I’ll get a lizard?

    Is that how evolution works?

    Sheesh… no wonder I wasn’t understanding…

"Our multicellular yeast are a valuable resource for investigating a wide variety of medically and biologically important topics,” Travisano said.
