    More likely BP just doesn't think there's any money to be made in wind.

    Companies do not sell part of their business unless they either really need the money, or if they think that part of their business is not going to do well in the near future.

    This is from a company that spent nearly as much on advertising that it was "helping the environment" as it was actually spending to help the environment. It was all just about public image to counter the negetive connotations the british public associated with oil companies.
