Perhaps Orwell just wasn't imaginative enough? In any event. Facebook does seem to be growing ever more irrelevant. Who still uses it at all? I'd suggest that when push came to shove, FB certainly didn't go out of its way to try helping Parler. Talk about predatory. I don't recall, but you were OK with that, weren't you.

Coca-Cola certainly didn't go out of their way to support Pepsi.
    What's your point?
Do you think Burger King should support McDonalds?

Because they have no power over you. Thus they cannot be cruel and oppressive. FB has as much right to set their rules as you do for your own house.

There is no inherent right to use FB. If you do not like the way they do things, you are free to move on or start your own site and take FB down

Mostly middle aged women who want to show how perfect their life is.

And I fondly remember all those times Ford helped Chevy and Kellogg's helped Post.

Oh wait, that never happened either.

Where are you post whining about that?

They don't? I suspect that you actually understand that FB has enormous power in the information age, and that the exercise of that power is and has been demonstrated to be cruel and abusive. So why continue to support them here?

The argument that you can try to compete rings a little hollow then. Who knew you were such a devout corporatists?

Notice how the libos kiss up to and worship the richest people in the history of earth? Please libos lecture us now about how democrats care about average people while you roll out the red carpet and crowns for Zuckerberg, Bezos and Gates. Corporatism it is called. All united against Trump along with scum bag career politicians, wall street and the military industrial complex.

Yeah let's pretend they have our best interests in mind. :confuse::confuse::confuse::confuse::confuse:

Now Dick Cheney and family are among the cabal of good people who hate Trump!:clapping:

    Nope, they do not.

I suspect you are given to being a drama queen.

That is what they said about FB when they started up trying to dethrone MySpace.

    I am not a corporatists, but I am a devout capitalist. .

Gosh. You seem entirely willing to undermine your own contentions. You support monopolistic behavior, but you're a capitalist. Got it. Thanks for the laugh.

This is life under the rule of King Biden the swamp and the corporate elites. Don't worry you get a cell an orange jump suit and three squares a day. Included in your diet is a daily visit from Big Bob. Don't you dare complain! Racist!

Don't expect any help from the Bush's, McCains, Cheneys, Romneys or Ryans. They are with Biden.

One man did stand up to the swamp and the CCP. He lives in Miralago and has been censored. You will be censored also.

Lifetime ban for encouraging violence which he never did.

Trump's crime was standing up to the swamp and the communist party of China.

Censorship is capitalism? Section 230 is capitalism?

Enough people to keep the business still going very strong.

Of course. It's a business, not a charity. Why would it go out of its way to try to help Parler? And, no, that's not what predatory business practices look like. It's rare for a business to go out of its way to help its competitor grow. I've only seen a few sole proprietorships do that in the past. There's nothing wrong with charity, but yes, I'm okay with one business not acting as a charity for another.

Private property rights are central to capitalism. And there would be a metric **** load more censorship if we got rid of Section 230.

Monopolies are the result of capitalism, not the opposite of it.

You are often confused about such things.

But glad you could laugh at it

When done by private companies, of course censorship is capitalism. They are doing what they think will make them the most money, the only goal of capitalism

Section 230 applies to all companies equally, so not sure what the problem is

This is what section 230 says regarding what can be censured. .

So take that "objectionable" part and use it as a blanket for any political speech you disagree with? Where is the word "misinformation" which is the libocrat excuse for censoring everything they disagree with?

Note that violent speech is not automatically eligible for a ban it says 'excessively violent". So BLM saying pigs in a blanket fry them like bacon is fine.

One poster's contention that Zuckerberg can do anything he wants since it is his company is bullcrap! Section 230 does not allow that.

So why do you approve of the government protecting tech companies under section 230? Then they abuse their immunity by censuring speech in a highly partisan way.

I approve of it because it is the only way sites like this can exist. If a post has to be preapproved prior to being visible to avoid being held responsible for what is posted, then internet forums cease to exist.

I have been banned from a few forums, some for being too far right, others for being too far left. That is their right to do as they own the forum.

What FB does is no different.

    Imagine...
If the big tech and social media companies combine with the news media to be loyal to only their own chosen party who was charge of the government, just think how quiet and peaceful America would be! No more public arguments. Government would soldier on and automatically do the right thing for all Americans and everything would be perfect.
